Fitting and handling
Allow the boards to acclimatise in the room for at least 48 hours before laying, keeping them flat and away from direct heat sources or damp. Secret nail or screw through the tongue at each joist crossing, using a minimum of two fixings per board per joist. Once laid, the surface can be sanded and finished with a hardwax oil, floor varnish, or wood stain to suit the space.
FAQ
Can these redwood T&G boards be used as loft boards?
Yes. At 25mm thick, these boards are a common choice for loft boarding over joists as well as subfloor use. Check your joist centres first and ensure the boards span at least two joists without unsupported edges. How much should I order to allow for waste?
A general allowance of 10 to 15 per cent for cutting waste and board selection is standard for T&G flooring. In rooms with alcoves, chimney breasts, or angled walls, allow towards the higher end.
