A deeply moving and historically rich Victorian mourning ring, dating to 1894 and imbued with powerful personal sentiment. This striking piece reflects the traditions of remembrance that defined late 19th century memorial jewellery.

At the centre sits a single old cut diamond, its soft fire and hand cut facets catching the light. The diamond is framed by a bold panel of black enamel, the traditional colour of mourning, creating a dramatic and deeply symbolic contrast. Flowing down each shoulder in gold and enamel are the words “In Memory Of”, a poignant reminder of the ring’s commemorative purpose.

Inside the band, the hand engraved names “Elise & Doris” remain clearly visible, preserving the identities of those remembered. Beneath the setting is a locket compartment containing the original hair of the departed. A deeply personal Victorian tradition intended to keep loved ones close even after death. The glazed cover has been lost over time, leaving the compartment open, a gentle and honest sign of the ring’s age and journey.

Mourning jewellery of this quality was often commissioned to mark great personal loss and was worn as a visible symbol of love and remembrance. The craftsmanship, materials, and surviving details make this an especially evocative example.

A rare and emotionally resonant Victorian ring. Rich in history, symbolism, and human story and a remarkable piece for any collector of antique or sentimental jewellery.

good watch, great price, mediocre band
Accurate? Great price? it's a Casio! Not the best looker, but darn easy to read. This is a stepping stone to an "easy reader" watch, with clear numbers on a high contrast background. Easy to set, this model is a good choice for traveling back and forth across time zones. The big drawback (and likely the reason I was able to buy this watch as a return) is the watchband, which has 3 faults. The hasp is old school and it can be hard to open and close except when it opens unexpectedly. The corners of the links are not rounded, so they can bite into your wrist. And adjusting the size of the band is a PITA. All in all, I'm on the lookout for a replacement band. [I have absurdly large wrists, but still needed to remove two links. Use a super small bladed screwdriver on the band and a paperclip for the springbar at the hasp. Open the band at the hasp, find and press down on bits of spring steel until you can slide them out of the watchband, remove links, reassemble the band. I'm reasonably handy but took 10+ minutes for the task.]

Nice watch
Got tired of digital watches with 25 functions and went back to an analog watch just to tell the time. This one has a blue face and a nice stainless steel case and bracelet. Good value for the money.
