An elegant and highly unusual ring dating to 1905, created from warm 9 carat gold with a soft rosy hue. A token from the past still as mesmerising today as it was when it was first worn.

The ring is set with a finely carved cameo, carved from beautifully naturalistic colour banded agate. The layers of the stone adding subtle depth and contrast to the design as well as translucent glow. 

The cameo depicts a female head in profile, exquisitely rendered with delicate classical features. Its character and form suggest it may have originated as part of a larger cameo, perhaps repurposed into this ring by a traveller returning from the Grand Tour, when such pieces were collected as mementoes of classical art and culture.

CONDITION: This is in lovely antique condition with an overall patina to wear to the gold and agate. There is some wear to the underneath, possibly caused during its creation.
