I've now come to think of Simple Minds' 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' as the third in what I'm now going to call 'The Rain Trilogy', since it's the third of their big hits that features rain in the lyrics: rain keeps falling down, down (in this one); come in come out of the rain (at the Waterfront), and more rain in 'Someone Somewhere In Summertime'. This song, easily Simple Minds' greatest hit thanks to the iconic Gen X film The Breakfast Club, for which it was the theme song, wasn't written by the band but certainly helped define them. For me it was the first real 'anthem' song of my youth, so it needed an epic, grandiose vintage retro pulp paperback cover, and this fantastic artwork for the gothic horror romance Her Demon Lover was perfect -- especially since it also has the rain. Gotta have the rain! Her stance perfectly underlines the declarative nature of the title, too.
