After a seven year hiatus and the departure of founding member Winston Marshall, Mumford & Sons return as a trio with Rushmere, their fifth studio album and most introspective work to date. Released on March 28, 2025, the album marks both a fresh chapter and a reflective homecoming.
Named after a pond in Wimbledon Common where the band first came together, Rushmere is a nod to origins, framed by a sense of creative renewal. “We felt restless to get going,” the band shared, describing the process as the most prolific two years of their career.
Recorded across Nashville, Savannah, and Devon with producer Dave Cobb, the album leans into the group’s folk roots while embracing the emotional clarity that followed Marcus Mumford’s 2022 solo release and their 2024 collaboration with Pharrell Williams.
The title track, released as the lead single, sets the tone: a banjo driven anthem that recalls their early sound while pushing forward with renewed purpose. Accompanied by behind the scenes footage and a trailer teasing new material, Rushmere finds Mumford & Sons reclaiming their identity — stripped down, re-centered, and looking back to move ahead.
