The Blackmagic Design Spares – ATEM Panel – System Control LCD is the specific liquid crystal display component found in the "System Control" section of the ATEM Advanced Panels (1 M/E, 2 M/E, and 4 M/E).

While the System Control Module includes the buttons and knobs, the LCD spare is the raw display panel itself. This is the high-resolution, full-color screen that provides the visual feedback for every menu setting, from chroma keying and DVE coordinates to network configuration and Fairlight audio metering.

Core Responsibilities

  • Menu Rendering: Displays the hierarchical software interface of the ATEM system.

  • Parameter Feedback: Shows real-time numerical values as you turn the rotary encoders.

  • System Diagnostics: Displays health alerts, IP addresses, and firmware versioning.

  • Visual Previews: In some modes, it can display small icons or thumbnails for macros and media pool stills.

When to Replace the LCD (vs. the whole Module)

  • Dead Pixels: Small black or colored dots that stay on the screen regardless of what is being displayed.

  • Backlight Failure: The panel is receiving data (you might see buttons reacting to menus), but the screen is too dark to read without a flashlight.

  • Screen Bleeding: A "bruise-like" purple or black spot on the screen, usually caused by physical pressure or a localized impact.

  • Vertical/Horizontal Lines: Sharp lines running across the screen, indicating a failure of the TAB (Tape Automated Bonding) interface between the glass and the ribbon cable.

  • Severe Burn-in: Ghosted images of old menus that remain visible even when the screen content changes.

Technical Installation Note

Repair Level: 5 (Expert).

  1. De-framing the Module: You must first remove the System Control Module from the panel, then carefully disassemble the module's housing to reach the LCD "sandwich."

  2. The Fragile FFC: The LCD connects via a very thin Flexible Flat Cable (FFC). This cable is often secured with a "flip-lock" or "slider" ZIF connector.

    • Caution: These connectors are easily snapped. Use a plastic spudger; never use metal tweezers near the ribbon.

  3. Static Shielding: The LCD has a silver-colored metallic backing that acts as an EMI shield. Ensure this makes proper contact with the grounding points to prevent "static snow" on the display.

  4. Dust-Free Environment: Once you remove the protective faceplate, the LCD is exposed. Any speck of dust trapped between the LCD and the front glass will be permanently visible and illuminated by the backlight once reassembled.

Diagnostic: LCD vs. Video Driver

  • It is the LCD if: The screen has physical cracks, lines, or "ink" leaks, but the menu buttons and knobs around it still work to change switcher settings (verified via the ATEM Software Control on a PC).

  • It is the Driver/Main PCB if: The screen shows "garbage" data, white-outs, or flickers rhythmically, which often points to a failure in the power delivery or the graphics processor rather than the glass itself.

Pro-Tip: Brightness Management

If your new LCD seems "too blue" or "too bright" compared to your old one, navigate to the Panel Settings menu. Blackmagic allows you to calibrate the brightness of the LCD. Setting it to 70-80% not only makes it more comfortable for long shifts in dark control rooms but also significantly extends the life of the backlight LEDs.

Are you seeing physical damage to the screen glass, or has the display simply gone black while the buttons are still lit?

Great price and very quiet
Color: Black
I use the Honeywell TurboForce HT-900 in my home office to help with airflow around my computer setup, and it’s been a solid performer for the price. Despite its small size, it moves a surprising amount of air. On high, it pushes a strong, focused stream that actually reaches across the room. Medium is what I use most often since it balances good circulation with reasonable noise, and low is quiet enough to run in the background without being distracting. Noise levels are generally acceptable. Low and medium are fairly quiet with a consistent hum, while high is noticeably louder but still not unbearable for short bursts. It’s also very simple to position and use. The head tilts easily, so you can aim airflow exactly where you need it, and the compact size makes it easy to place on a desk without taking up much space. Overall, it’s a straightforward, no-frills fan that does its job well. Strong airflow, simple controls, and good value for the price.

Powerful and long lasting
Color: Black
I purchased a blue colored one in May 2022 and it finally went out a few days ago. I ran this thing almost constantly as im going through menopause and it came to be a staple at my bedside. 4 years of running ALL THE TIME! Great little fan with a ton of airflow to keep me cool during night sweats. And it has just enough white noise to distract from outside noise. Also, the motor power never differentiated after using for so long. It was still strong. I just ordered another one to replace it and cant wait for it to arrive so I can sleep again! Only thing is they only have bakck or white instead of blue this time but thats ok as long as it performs.

Small fan, serious power
Color: Black
I bought the Honeywell Turboforce Fan for my bedroom, and I’m honestly impressed with how powerful this little thing is. Don’t let the compact size fool you — it moves a lot of air. On the lowest setting it’s perfect for a gentle breeze while sleeping, and the higher settings can easily cool down a medium-sized room or help circulate AC much more efficiently. The 90-degree pivoting head is a great feature. I can angle it upward for better air circulation or point it directly at me when it’s extra hot. It’s lightweight, easy to move around, and doesn’t take up much space on a desk or nightstand. It can also be wall-mounted, which is a nice bonus. Noise level is reasonable. On low, it’s actually a pleasant white noise. Medium and high are louder, but not in an annoying way — just the sound of strong airflow. Build quality feels solid for the price, and it’s been running daily without any issues. For the cost, this fan seriously overperforms. If you need a compact, affordable, and powerful fan, this is a no-brainer. I’d absolutely buy it again.

Good value for a powerful fan.
Color: Black
Powerful fan. It’s just a 100 square foot room but you can feel the fan clear across the room. The unit feels durable but it is also extremely lightweight. Easy to move room to room. The fan can face straight ahead or angle to face upwards. It is easy to change the angle of the fan, simply tilt the body and it clicks into place. It does not face downward. When faced upwards it does well to circulate air around the room. It is somewhat loud on higher settings but that is to be expected. At $14.99 this was priced a bit lower than similar units. It’s a good value so far as it is performing well.
