The PTP Turbo Blankets Lava Turbo Blanket is a great option to contain potentially excessive underhood engine temperatures. The heat created from your turbocharger can be harmful, especially to your intercooler due to heat soak. The outer layer of the PTP Turbo Blanket is crafted from actual pulverized lava rock, and it is formed into the fabric, and then woven into a tight mesh weave. These are internally insulated with high-temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool, and overlaid with a high-temperature silica fabric for increased durability for improved thermal resistance. These turbo blankets are designed to withstand the harshest of conditions.
Overall by keeping the heat contained within the turbocharger, expect improved efficiency, and cooler underhood temperatures. Your intercooler and surrounding engine components will be protected from the heat, and more importantly, your intake will have a cooler air charge.
