🧵 Beginner Sewing 1: Your Essential Introduction to the Sewing Machine - Make a Drawstring Bag 

🗓️ Saturday, August 1:  9 am - Noon 

Learn to sew from the very beginning! In this hands-on intro class, you’ll get comfortable with a sewing machine, learn basic sewing vocabulary, and explore different types of fabrics. You’ll practice sewing straight seams and simple seam finishes, then put your new skills to use by making a handy drawstring bag to take home.

🏠 Beginner Sewing 2: Polished Finishes: Seams, Hems and Button Closures - Sew an Envelope Pillow with Buttons 

🗓️ Saturday, August 15th 9 am - Noon

Build on your basics with a practical home décor project. In this class, you’ll learn how to sew neat hems, refine your seam finishes, and work with corners. You’ll also discover how to create buttonholes on a sewing machine and sew buttons that align perfectly.  By the end of class, you’ll have sewn an envelope-style pillow cover with a button closure.

📐 Sewing 3: Intro to Patterns and Zipper Installation - Sew a Zippered Pouch

🗓️ Saturday, August 29th: 9 am - Noon 

Ready to tackle patterns and zippers? This class introduces you to reading a simple sewing pattern, understanding grainline and pattern markings, and laying out your pieces on fabric. You’ll learn to install a basic zipper using a zipper foot and create a lined zippered pouch—perfect for notions, cosmetics, or pencils.

Meaty and flavorful
I ate these straight from the tin at room temperature, sometimes sopping up the extra liquid with decent bread. I purchased these because I wanted to try an alternative to the King Oscar. I've tried a couple different kinds of mackerel over the years, and while the King Oscar has been the best I find their olive oil varieties to be a bit acrid. Not so with these Otter Kingdom fillets. Theses are actual fillets, so they are larger and meatier, and in my experience they have a looser grain than the mackerel I'm used to. They are high-quality, so I'm not detecting any bones and there's no formaldehyde-flavor, no imperfections in the cut. The oil is quite thin/watery and fairly small in volume. This isn't an issue for me, if anything I'd say it's welcome as it doesn't overpower the fish. These make a great compliment to my tinned fish rotation, which includes tuna, squid/octopus, sardines, cod liver, oysters, and sometimes sprats, salmon, and trout. The price is better than King Oscar, so I can have it more regularly without feeling like I'm being immoderate. Would recommend.
