Using a combination of both LED & Incandescent bulbs (thus, Hybrid) these offer much of the same amazing features that the originals do for those who want to be XB-ballers on a budget. QUALITY, INSIDE AND OUT: Thanks to sharing many of the same core components developed for the top of the line model, the new Hybrid series headlights from Morimoto are hardly a compromise. They use the same OEM-grade housing. The same optics for the DRL. They offer the same five-year warranty too. The fit and finish on the Morimoto Ford F150 LED headlights is far superior than anything else out there in this price range, guaranteed. PERFORMANCE: We've always been blown away by the fact that the other brands don't even consider how well their headlights perform on the road at night. The XB Hybrid headlights have a powerful, wide, and bright LED low beam projector, and a dedicated LED high beam projector too. Their optics were specially developed just for use the hybrid lineup to produce an amazing beam pattern despite the affordable price point. These are much more than an aesthetic upgrade, they will illuminate the road much more effectively too. DOT APPROVED: Make no mistake, these will produce a much different [better] result than slapping some LED replacement bulbs into your stock housings. Their Dual LED projector optics meet & exceed all SAE, DOT, and FMVSS108 regulations when aimed properly... and that's easy to do with their integrated vertical/lateral adjusters. PLUG-N-PLAY: Wiring is easy too! Morimoto's Hybrid XB F150 LED headlights are designed to work on your truck without any modifications. They will plug into the factory connectors for the stock headlights and each assembly includes all necessary connectors, rubber seals, and pigtails for a plug n play install. No error codes, no flickering, hyper-flashing, or radio interference. They can easily be removed, and will not void your factory warranty. (Note, these will not work on trucks with OEM LED headlights) LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT: Game Changer! Their LED daytime running light is powered by Osram 5000K LEDs and is insanely bright, easily visible during the day. The DRL will automatically dim down with the parking lights and low beams for full compliance.     Sky Full of Elephants is a work of speculative fiction that begins with the premise that the white population of the United States has been wiped out. Starting a year after “the event” and following Charlie, a man who spent 20 years in prison due to a cowardly lie, and his resentful, biracial 19 year old daughter, who witnessed her only known family drown themselves, it is at its core a quest for identity in its many forms and how trauma can co-opt that search. In rating and reviewing this book, I’m aware that my lens as a Gen-X, cis-het, white woman, will have a differing view from others’ lived experiences. In reading other reviews, I definitely saw points that I didn’t consider, which I hope is the main point of the book. I do think, as a work of speculative fiction, that it does require the suspension of disbelief from the get go. It is a philosophical “what if” that Mr. Campbell invites the reader to consider. Intrigued by the premise, I was drawn into the story due to Mr. Campbell’s lyrical writing style. The narrative had a rhythmical flow to it that supported the world building and characterizations. I found Charlie to be a very sympathetic character, rebuilding a life shattered by lies in a new world and confronted with the daughter he never had a chance to know. Sydney, Charlie’s daughter, was more of a struggle to empathize with. While her feelings were justified and understandable, her growth throughout the novel was erratic. As the story has an ambiguous ending, perhaps her character will continue to improve. For supporting cast, the grumpy pilot Sailor and his nonbinary child, Zu, offer a counterpoint to Charlie and Sidney’s emerging relationship. The king and queen of Alabama and the thriving town of Mobile were well fleshed out. The Walkers and Sidney’s Aunt Agatha in Orange Beach represented those who were lost in their own way, either due to clinging to their former proximity to whiteness or to the religious biases they were raised with. I found the Walkers to be the most tragic of all. The questions of identity throughout the story are what kept be invested throughout. Are we defined by the color of our skin, our behaviors, the groups we belong to, the choices we make? Are others more valuable or worthy who don’t suffer the same things we do? Does there have to be those that are “lesser” to make us feel whole? As a trauma survivor with C-PTSD, I struggle with my own issues of identity and worthiness, and as a former Special Education teacher, I’ve been witness to that struggle in others. I have never understood or accepted the idea of White Supremacy or Christian Supremacy or any of the myriad ways that humanity continues to other each of us. In reality, there is no “us” or “them” only”we”. Charlie questions who he is as a Black man in the US, a convict, a teacher, a father, and ultimately a fixer and healer. Sidney grapples with her biracial otherness, her wealthy upbringing and sheltered life, the trauma of abandonment, and the lies that her life was built on. The ethical question of the machine at the epicenter of the event adds another layer to the story. While the effects of the first usage were unintended, once they were known is it right to continue to fix it and use it again? Can healing a part of collectiveness that harms or destroys another part ultimately be worth the cost? The world and its people are broken and desperately need healing. But just like the question of eugenics, what of value is lost when specific traits are universally stripped away? And who gets the to decide what is of value anyway? The ambiguity of the ending doesn’t answer the question entirely of what happens when the machine is repaired, but Charlie’s ability to fix things leads me hopeful. Personally, I cared enough about these characters to be interested in a sequel.

    The Possibilities

    Despite its potential, this book ultimately failed to resonate with me. I found myself repeatedly compelled to put it down, as the focus on the empowerment aspect was overshadowed by the narrative’s preoccupation with re-triggering ourselves through the perpetuation of a harmful lie. This lie, which has tragically cost many Black men their lives and livelihoods, diverted our attention from the more profound themes of rebuilding culture, redefining ourselves, and creating a new world. Instead of exploring the possibility of a beautiful utopia, we were subjected to a process of de-centering ourselves and centering them, their likeness, and the relentless pursuit of proving our worth. While there were indeed wise words that moved me, I was left questioning the purpose of dedicating so much time to those who did not share our sentiments. Who are these individuals who required our convincing, and who are we who felt compelled to do so? I found Sydney, her family, and the inhabitants of Orange Beach to be unlikable characters. I fear that the plot was compromised when the focus shifted to inclusion.

    Wow, I don't even know what to say about this book, but well done. I was a little bit mystified in the beginning. Our FMC and MMC definitely had me feeling a specific sort of way. A father, who was released from prison after "The Event" where all the white people in the Nation killed themselves, struggles with his identity. His daughter, Sidney, a biracial young adult who was raised by her white family, struggles with the fact that things she was taught were not necessarily true, and finds it hard to connect to her blackness. This is a tumultuous story of a beautifully written adaptation to an entirely new way of life. I didn't necessarily agree with certain ideations of the author, who in his book, claimed that there was a lost feeling after "The Event," but that's just personal experience, and I think that many black people would adapt. This book brings up so many feelings. How would I feel if "The Event" happened? Now that the "system" is dismantled? This book brings up dialogue and conversation. Amazingly well done. I'm still pondering. I know that this will be something I think about often. Wow. Very seldom do I tear up at books, but the representation of black joy in this story genuinely made my heart feel full. The love that when black people come together with nothing but amazing energy, was described so adequately in this book. I could feel it myself. And to that, I have to applaud Cebo Campbell.
