Riffing on the iconic and beloved Duo Jet, Gretsch has blessed the guitar world with a limited-edition G6129TG-59VS Sparkle Jet electric guitar, a Vintage Select ode to the brand's "golden age" that is glitzed-up and built to time-honored spec, delivering a unique, premium solidbody experience.
Dazzling and, as the title specifies, sparkling, the Sparkle Jet is constructed with an arched maple top that is gloss finished in a beautiful, mesmerizing Red Sparkle colorway. A chambered mahogany construction makes up the rest of the body, back, and sides to magnify harmonics richness, showing the natural wood grain in these faces to let the top rightfully shine. To compliment the aesthetics, Gretsch implemented gold hardware accents in the knobs, switches, pickguard, and the irreplaceable Bigsby B3GP vibrato tailpiece.
Working our way up the guitar, we'll find a gloss finished Standard "U" profiled mahogany neck attached to the body for smooth, comfortable playability across the 24.6" scale length. Affixed to the neck is an ebony fingerboard lined with 22 medium jumbo frets and guided by aged pearloid neo-classic thumbnail inlays, supplying the player with snappy, bright tones that pronounces a sharp attack. Following the strings further, we'll find a bone nut, and Grover Sta-Tite tuning machines on the headstock, providing effortless practicality for adjustments and maintenance while further complimenting the guitar's sparkle with gold accents.
Encapsulating the vintage tones that made the Jet so acclaimed in 1959, Gretsch has installed TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity humbucker pickups in the neck and bridge positions, supplying that classic Filter'Tron tonal-shine accurately and impressively. Each pickup has a designated volume knob, while the master volume controls the output of the entire instrument. The pickups are switchable with a 3-way toggle control, while the tone of the Jet is controlled with a 3-way toggle switch. Bringing crisp top end and tighter bass response, the electronics of the Sparkle Jet standout amongst all who aspire to produce Gretsch's glorious tones.
