"You wonder why I always dress in black?" Ask this Martin Custom Shop 000 28 Style Blacktop. Black as night, this Martin Custom Shop Custom Dealer Select acoustic guitar model is a dark, bold, and formidable auditorium-style guitar. Summoning rich, complex, and nuanced Martin acoustic tones, this 000 28 Style Blacktop is a marvelous example of Martin's dark arts in motion.

Here at Russo Music, we're proud to hold the distinction of being a Martin Guitar Custom Expert dealer. With this distinction, we have the privilege of sharing one-of-a-kind Martin acoustic guitars like this one. This Custom Expert model assembles with some of the finest features Martin has to offer.

Beginning with a Martin 000/OM Auditorium body shape brought together by spruce and East Indian rosewood, this Martin sets off in style. A Grade 4 spruce top matches with Martin's two-piece East Indian rosewood for a bold and lush acoustic tone off the bat. Within, Golden Era 5/16" scalloped spruce braces in an X-Brace pattern expand on the tonal balance and projection of this model for a vivid vision of a classic Martin. Black Boltaron inlay wraps the body's edges for a smooth, cool accent to complement the Herringbone top pattern. Zig zag purfling lines the rosewood back for a distinct, detailed aesthetic accent.

This Custom Martin introduces a neck through their dovetail neck joint construction and Modern adhesive. A Golden Era Modified Low Oval profile with a High Performance taper moves smoothly past the palm with a satin finish and rosewood filler. Matching this sleek neck, an oiled black ebony fingerboard lands with Style 28 select abalone inlays that punctuate the dark wood. Across the board, the smooth, rich ebony delivers comfortable and articulate fretting.

Backing up this Custom Shop's playability and fine tonewoods, a series of reliable hardware specifications appear. At the base of the scale, a black ebony bridge lands in a Martin Golden Era Modern Belly configuration. A drop-in compensated bone saddle offers a solid connection and transfer of motion string-to-body. At the opposite end, a bone nut and Grover nickel tuning machines ensure smooth stringing and intonation. This Martin Custom Shop 000 28 Blacktop travels with an Martin five-ply hardshell case.

"Why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone? Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on."

Sturdy, works great, not quite perfect.
Color: silver
This was the perfect stand to use when my desktop computer crashed and I had to work on my laptop without killing my neck. It's sturdy, well made, and works exactly as advertised. Adjustment is smooth and simple. I was able to work with my monitor at a comfortable height and distance, and it saved my bacon! But, would I want to work on it indefinitely? No. Two things are lacking for me. First, there's a height adjustment, but no angle control. This means that at its max height, the display has a small downward tilt. It also means that on zoom calls, I had to fiddle with the monitor height until my whole head was framed, rather than cut off. Not a dealbreaker, but annoying over the long term, especially with lots of zoom meetings. Second, I'm not sure why I was surprised, but the stand-plus-laptop combo created a kind of aluminum "monolith" on my desktop. I couldn't bend to peer under it, or over it either. It felt as though part of my desk (albeit a narrow portion) became inaccessible. This too is a quibble--I just happen to like a more open and airy feeling. These two nits aside, this is a sturdy and well designed stand that works well and will last a long time.

Replacement stickers are on the way!!
Color: silver, Color: silver
Edit: Customer service was lovely and I have replacement stickers on the way. This fabulous product has helped me so much and I can't be without it. Back up to a 5 star review. I purchased this product in April 2024. The stickers that help the laptop 'grab' onto the stand are either gone or unstable. See picture below. Can it be repaired with new stickers? How do I get them?

Sixty Bucks? Yep. And I'd buy another one.
Color: silver
OK, I had my doubts. Yes, the iLevel2 is highly-reviewed. And yes, it's really (really) important to have your laptop screen at eye level (get it? iLevel?) But spending 60 dollars on an adjustable laptop stand? Couldn't I just pile up a couple of old books for free? Well, as a contractor once told me when I made a really dumb suggestion, "You COULD do it that way..." The iLevel2's main virtue is that the angle/height adjustment knob is rock-solid, as is the platform. It's just an extremely well-made, solid product. And the adjustment knob, which is on a left-right track on the front of the product, allows you to dial in your laptop's screen height to the millimeter. Result: a totally-custom, ergonomically-friendly setup. Love it.

Underwhelming
Color: silver
Too much hype. It just holds the laptop. Buy something cheaper. The slide adjuster isn’t useful to me at all.

Useful but not perfect
Color: silver
Useful, but typing with laptop perched on it is unsteady. I use a separate keyboard.
