Key Features

  • High-Temperature Structural Polymer: Manufactured from a specialized, heat-stabilized plastic designed to withstand the intense thermal stress of "Sani-Rinse" and "Heated Dry" cycles without warping or becoming brittle.
  • Integrated EPDM Rubber Seal: Features a high-performance internal rubber gasket that creates an airtight and watertight seal, preventing rinse aid from leaking into the tub prematurely or water from diluting the reservoir.
  • Precision Twist-Lock Interface: Engineered with a standardized locking tab system that provides a secure, friction-lock fit with the dispenser housing, ensuring the cap remains seated during high-pressure wash cycles.
  • Ergonomic Finger-Grip Tab: Designed with a raised central rib that makes it easy to grasp and turn, even with wet hands or when wearing rubber cleaning gloves.

Compatibility & Fitment

This dispenser cap is the standard replacement for the rinse aid reservoir of most Whirlpool-manufactured dishwashers. Key compatible brands include:

  • Whirlpool & Maytag: Fits hundreds of WDT, WDF, and MDB series models (e.g., WDT720PADM, MDB4949SHZ).
  • Kenmore (665 Series): Compatible with dozens of 665-prefix "Elite" and standard dishwashers (e.g., 665.13263K311, 665.1573291).
  • KitchenAid & Jenn-Air: Fits various KDTM, KDTE, and JDT series high-end units (e.g., KDTE104ESS, KUDC10FXSS).
  • Amana, Roper, & Estate: Direct fit for ADB and DU series models utilizing the 8558307 cap style.
  • Note: Specifically for the Rinse Aid Reservoir located on the inner door panel. It is not for the detergent door latch or the bottom sump filters.

When to Replace

  • Rinse Aid Leaking: You see blue or clear liquid streaks running down the inner door panel after closing the door, indicating the gasket has flattened or cracked.
  • Cap Won't Stay Locked: The plastic locking tabs have snapped or worn down, causing the cap to pop out during the wash cycle.
  • Cloudy Glassware: If the cap is loose, the rinse aid may be washed away too early in the cycle, leading to spots, film, and poor drying results on your dishes.
  • Visible Heat Damage: The cap looks yellowed, brittle, or deformed after years of exposure to the dishwasher's heating element.
  • Missing Cap: The original cap was lost or accidentally thrown away, leaving the reservoir open to water dilution and contamination.

Installation Tips

  • No Tools Required: This is a simple "twist and lock" replacement. Ensure the dishwasher is off and the inner door panel is dry.
  • Clean the Reservoir Opening: Before installing the new WP8558307 cap, use a damp cloth to wipe away any old rinse aid residue or mineral scale from the threads of the dispenser housing.
  • Check the Gasket: Ensure the black rubber gasket is seated flat against the underside of the new cap. If the gasket is twisted, the reservoir will leak.
  • The "Quarter-Turn" Lock: Insert the cap into the opening and turn it clockwise until it stops. It should feel snug and flush with the dispenser housing. Do not over-tighten, as the plastic tabs can snap.
  • Top-Off the Reservoir: This is the ideal time to refill your rinse aid. Filling the reservoir before locking the new cap ensures your next wash cycle will have the correct dosage for spot-free drying.

Did not disappoint!
Perfect Fit: Bolted right up to the engine block without any shimmying or modification needed. Strong Crank: The motor sounds powerful and turns the engine over significantly faster than my old, dying unit. Once hooked up, the car fired up instantly on the first turn of the key. No grinding, no clicking, just a smooth, high-torque start. Price: A lot more cheaper then your average auto parts stores. Build Quality: The solenoid connections are solid and the threads were clean. Packaging: The box arrived on time but a bit beat up, but the starter itself was well-protected in bubble wrap and undamaged.

Still working great!!
I really didn't have a good feeling about ordering a starter online, but I was in a situation where I didn't have the time to get to the auto shop before my day off and Amazon could get me this part just in time. So I reluctantly gave it a shot. When it showed up it had a couple of small black pieces of plastic loose in the box similar to the pieces shown in another review on here. It didn't look like they from anything functional. I really needed to get my wife's car running so decided to install it anyways. The install was easy and it was a perfect fit. The only draw back would be that the signal wire didn't click in place like the signal wire on the original starter. But it was a snug fit. It has been installed and working great for a month now. Very happy with my purchase. It also had a message from the seller when I opened the box giving the starter a 2 year warranty. Very cool. If the starters fails in the next two years I'll get on here and edit my review. So if your reading this then it is still working great.

Great quality at a great price too!
Husband got this for his ‘05 Camry and says it looks and fits just like the original. He was happy that it simply slid in with no adjustments needed. It’s been a couple months now and no problems at all. Very satisfied with this item.

Electrically good. Fitment not so good.
This starter worked fine when installed. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating was fitment. the hole in the bell housing is slightly larger than the starter. The old starter, OEM, was a right fit. This puts all of the strain and torque of starting the engine on the two bolts that hold the starter in. I expect this to fail at some, hopefully, distant point in the car's future. In order to retorque the starter bolts, the battery and airbox have to be removed.
