Burlotto is a family-owned winery in Verduno, Piedmont, Italy, with a long history of producing high-quality wines. From the southeastern edge of the Barolo zone, this Nebbiolo emerges from Castelletto, a distinctive hill in Monforte that shares its geological heritage with neighboring Serralunga d'Alba through the mineral-rich Lequio Formation, where clayey marl soils alternate with sandy patches. The grapes, which experience the gentle rhythm of morning sun, afternoon winds, and evening calm, are hand-harvested and carefully transported in small boxes before being destemmed and gravity-fed into French oak vats for fermentation, where daily pump-overs and temperature-controlled maceration preserve the wine's character. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in large French oak barrels for 20-33 months, then rests in bottle for at least 9 months after being bottled unfined and unfiltered, ultimately expressing what has become the site's emblematic personality: a statuesque body with powerful, determined character.
