This Fender Custom Shop '57 Strat is a celebration of that legacy, and a recreation of this timeless classic of a guitar with some modern twists added for the player.
Cut from premium 2-piece alder that's been sorted for a light weight by the FCS, the body of the '57 Stratocaster Relic features a classic Strat silhouette with deep '57-style body contours. A beautiful parchment pickguard is relic'd to match the appearance of the rest of the body, which features heavy checking throughout, and some areas worn down to the alder below.
The neck of this instrument is constructed from 5/4 quarter-sawn maple. The neck is carved to a palm-filling '60-Style Oval "C", with a 9.5-inch fingerboard radius for a touch of modern playability. The neck back is worn mostly down to wood for a smooth feel—a welcome touch to a relic job that wouldn't usually see this treatment. The fingerboard itself is topped with classic .250" Micarta Black inlays with wide spacing at the 12th fret. The board shows off some heavy ghosting matching the rest of the instrument's well-played aesthetic and is spec'd with 21 Medium Jumbo frets.
The Fender Custom Shop knows if you're going to recreate a '57 Strat, it better have great pickups. Hand-wired FCS Poblano Strat pickups take charge here, in the bridge, middle, and neck positions. These three single-coil pickups work together beautifully, and the reverse-wired middle pickup adds a touch of unique character to otherwise vintage-inspired pickups.
This instrument features eye-catching gold hardware from top to bottom, and comes complete with a FCS tweed hardshell case.
