Join Teach Your Gundog and Lead & Listen for this series of group sessions teaching and consolidating the skills and behaviours required to take The Royal Kennel Club’s Working Gundog Certificate Assessment on Dummies. Click here for more details about the scheme.
The Working Gundog Certificate classes will take place at Oakhurst Farm near Loxwood, West Sussex.
Your teachers, Jules and Silke, have successfully passed this assessment with their own dogs and have a great deal of experience in running the assessments both on dummies and on live game.
In the first week, we will go through all the requirements and establish your baselines from which we will help you to prepare your own personal training plans for the course.
Over the following sessions, we will be looking at hunting, retrieving, steadiness, water, shot, obstacles, heel work, social walking, delivery and much more.
At the end of the course, we will have a ‘dress rehearsal’ to run through the whole assessment with you.
Jules and Silke will establish whether you and your dog are ready to take the assessment at the end of the course, and if we have sufficient numbers, will organise an assessment day for you (this will be paid for separately to the training). Date for assessment (TBC) 18th October 2026.
Before you enrol on our Working Gundog Certificate classes please ensure you meet the following criteria:
- Your dog has a basic retrieve (we will work on steadiness and delivery to hand during the course)
- Your dog is comfortable around other dogs off lead
- Your dog can swim and jump a small ditch or low obstacle
- You have taught your dog the whistle cues of recall and stop
- Your dog has been introduced to the sound of shot and is comfortable
NB: You do not need to have a Royal Kennel Club-registered pure-bred dog, but if you do not, you will need to register your dog with the KC Activities Register.
Sessions can be booked individually, or you can book the entire block for a reduced rate. The cost of the assessment will be confirmed nearer the time, but is likely to be in the region of £50 per handler/dog partnership.

Love this pad . My little girl loves it too. No messes to cleanup just change the pad and it’s all good…

Protects floors
Size: X-Large: 28" x 34"
I love these pee pad holders. My dog goes near the edge of the pad and the urine gets on my hardwood floors. With these pads the edges of the pee pad holder catches the urine before it gets on the floors. It is very easy to clean the pad holder. I am so thankful it protects my floors!

Works well with the pads. Keeps them from getting bunched up all over the floor.
Size: Small: 24" x 24"
It was a nice idea, but my dogs chewed it up. If you don't have a chewer, then it's really nice.

Saved my sanity
Size: Small: 24" x 24"
I thought I knew everything about cats, but when my 14 year old cat stopped using the litter box, I could not fix it. I did persuade her to start using puppy pads but the problem was she would pee toward the edge and it always got on the floor. Or, defying everything I know about reality, she would find a way to pee UNDER the puppy pad.
I asked ChatGPT for advice and it recommended these. They fixed the problem by 80% and I'll take it! These mats help a ton. She still gets some pee on the floor, but it's not the huge problem it used to be. The edge on the mat keeps it contained. And enzymatic cleaner works its magic on the floor.
The clips that go on the edges are kinda fragile, but that's why they give you extras.
