We have added several new versions of this one! Swatch comparisons coming soon.

[Redacted] is a thermal that transitions from soft gray/clear (warm) to black (cold). This works beautifully as a topper to redact the color underneath or as a fun peekaboo for nail art.

This [redacted] nail polish comes in a 15 ml (.5 fl oz) bottle with a paddle brush.

Version Descriptions:

New Variants!

[Redacted] UFO  : This has the same amount of thermal pigment in [Redacted] Now With More Redacted, but has green glow in the dark pigment. This GITD pigment will glow best if charged with a uv flashlight. The glow will primarly only show when the thermal is in the warm state. This version has a soft green cast in the warm state.

[Redacted] Gold Star  : More thermal pigment than the original, so the black is more opaque (but the warm state is also less clear), with gold holographic flakes, which will really pop in both states. This should work as a topper in one coat. Please note that the thermal pigment can tend to "flatten" the holographic effect in the cold state -- be sure to use a glossy top top.

[Redacted] Original : this is a jelly-like formula to maintain the clear warm state! This is best in two coats

[Redacted] Make Mine Linear : More thermal pigment than the original, so the black is more opaque (but the warm state is also less clear), has linear holo, which will really pop in both states. This should work as a topper in one coat. Please note that the thermal pigment can tend to "flatten" the holographic effect in the cold state -- be sure to use a glossy top top.

[Redacted] But Like, Make It Have Holo Flakes : More thermal pigment than the original, so the black is more opaque (but the warm state is also less clear), has silver holographic flakes, which will really pop in both states. This should work as a topper in one coat. Please note that the thermal pigment can tend to "flatten" the holographic effect in the cold state -- be sure to use a glossy top top.

[Redacted] Now With More Redacted : This one has significantly more thermal pigment than the original. The black in the cold state will be a true solid black, and the warm state is a milky gray/almost cream in the warm state. This should work as a topper in one coat, but please keep in mind the warm still will be milky/not clear.

[Redacted] Red Pen : Same formula as original, with a dash of red to orange aurora shimmer, which is a jelly-like formula to maintain the clear warm state! This is best in two coats. The red shimmer is more prominent in the warm state. This is intentionally a small amount of red shimmer because too much turns the cold state to brown

A Note About Thermals:

Thermals are a type of nail polish that shifts between multiple shades. The pigment works by shifting colors using heat, and over time, that pigment stops being as effective. Thermals have a recommended shelf life of 6 months before they stop transitioning and will become one of the colors permanently. To ensure the longest possible shelf life, store thermals in a cool dark place, and avoid placing the bottles near direct sunlight.

To best extend the life of thermals, Apocalypse Polish makes thermals when  you place your order, so please allow an additional week for processing (a total of 21 days until your order ships).

Started w/ audiobook, now I'm ordering the print too
Format: Paperback
This book is GREAT!! The integration of theory she uses to support her claims is masterful. I began listening to the audiobook, because it was cheaper & I go through a ton of counseling & psych books. I am a grad student in social work, and I'm also a therapy client trying to heal myself. I appreciate that this book targets "chronic shame" which as a central experience to a bunch of issues. The hundreds of books and articles I've researched seem like they were mostly ALL working back to this issue. In a psychology culture that is big on cognitive and chemical solutions to mental health, the relational approach that she emphasizes is critical to the healing process. I appreciate the research she uses from object relations, affect regulation, interpersonal, etc. I purchased the hard copy because 1. I can't underline/highlight an audiobook and 2. I want a copy of the references of theorists and study's that she draws from, because they are pure gold. All therapists need to understand the contents of this book! Unless you are perfectly fine offering band aid solutions. Clients and self-helpers beware. It's not triggering in terms of content, it is activating in the sense that she describes the felt experience of shame SO WELL. I could locate my own felt sense of shame which is, by default, unpleasant. Some stabilization and a decent therapeutic connection is probably necessary before cracking this book open. But that's why I love it. I needed to go deeper and get the core issues. And this book is like a map that guides you right to it.

The best book I have read in a very long time. Transformative. I am slowly processing my new understanding of my relational trauma so well detailed in this book.

One of the best books on shame out there
Format: Paperback
As a shame researcher and educator, I often refer to DeYoung's book because it is so full of resources and relational tools for clinicians and individuals relating to the neurobiology of shame. It is a very small book with A LOT of information. Many references to the shame research and suggestions for treating shame in clinical practice from a perspective of right brain relationship dynamics. Thank you Patricia!

Highly recommend.
Format: Paperback
One of the most helpful, lucid, and comprehensive books on shame I've encountered. This was required reading for graduate school and is now one of my most returned to, dog-eared, and referenced books. Can't recommend enough.
