Days of Wonder and Ticket To Ride go hand-in-hand like trains and track! Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries is a standalone title. Nordic Countries provides a new board set in Scandinavia. The map ranges from Denmark to the chilly northern regions of Norway, Sweden and Finland. The core gameplay of Ticket To Ride remains present in Nordic Countries. Players aim to complete tickets between two cities on the map, by connecting routes. You connect routes in a set collection fashion, by paying matching, same-colour train cards. On your turn, you can do one action: get two more train cards, claim a route by paying cards, or taking on more tickets. Tickets pay out positive points if completed by the end of the game. They cost you the same but in minus points if you fail to complete them! Players also earn points by building routes between cities. The longer the route, the more points you'll earn. Nordic Countries has one gargantuan route that's nine train cards in length! It's worth a whopping 27 points... Do you dare save up for it?The Nordic Countries are full of tricky, snow-capped terrain. Building a train network here is tough. Some routes are 'tunnels' or 'ferries'. Ferries require a designated number of wild Locomotive cards as part of payment. Tunnels can be a gamble. When you want to pay for one, you have to flip over the top three train cards from the deck. If any of those three match the colour of said tunnel route, you have to pay extra cards or forfeit claiming it for now! Talking of Locomotives: you can now take two of them on your turn! The catch is you can only spend them on Tunnels or Ferries...Take note that this Nordic Countries map is for 2-3 players only. It's supposed be a tight, competitive layout. Blocking can and will occur: we did warn you!Player Count: 2-3 PlayersTime: 30-60 minutesAge: 8+

Bad book for SOA exam, but oh well.
Format: Paperback
While required by Society of Actuaries as the textbook for Short Term Actuarial Models exam, I could not recommend this textbook for any other purposes. Written by two Canadian actuaries, a lot of terms and explanations used in this textbook cannot be transferred into US P&C insurance. It fails to explains insurance's purpose and products effectively and as an intro book with unnecessary sentences to deliver personal thoughts. It is also a mess in following sections on ratemaking and reserving. I cannot sense a flow from this book that guides readers in an approachable manner. Overall, author compromises the size AND the quality.

Andy Greenberg is a terrific writer!
Format: Kindle
I absolutely love all of Andy's books. I've read them all, and his style of writing puts me right there in the action. I'm a heavy reader, so it takes a lot for me to be so moved as to write a review. This book is freakin amazing. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It's part investigative journalism, true crime, crypto hacking, blockchain shenanigans, I LOVE IT! It's a nerds dream novel, but easily enjoyable from someone unfamiliar with bitcoin or the blockchain. Such a wild story, holy moly. I can't say enough good things about this book. I bought 4 copies (3 to give to my sons), and I just now purchased the Kindle Edition. Thanks Andy for all your incredibly rigorous investigations and work that you do.
