The 15th Anniversary Reissue of Nineteen Ninety Now celebrates the landmark 2010 collaboration between Celph Titled and Buckwild, pairing Celph’s punchline-driven rhymes with Buckwild’s timeless 1990s production. This special edition is released via DEMIGODZ Enterprises in partnership with Coalmine Reissues, where every detail matters.

It was a groundbreaking concept. After stockpiling ideas for a decade, Celph Titled was discussing his debut solo album with James DL of No Sleep Recordings in 2009. James DL was working with Buckwild, whose production in the 1990s, alongside Black Rob, The Notorious B.I.G., O.C., and others, helped define the decade.

James DL mentioned that Buckwild had a box of discs with unused beats from the 1990s. That’s when the concept emerged. Celph Titled would use those unreleased Buckwild beats as the sonic foundation for his forthcoming LP. Buckwild loved the idea and the pair got to work.

“Instead of trying to make a record that sounded like the ’90s, we took beats that were made back at that time and made new songs,” Celph Titled says today. “That’s where the Now comes in, Nineteen Ninety Now.”

Instead, Nineteen Ninety Now stands as two artists hitting their creative apex. “It really holds its place as a one-of-a-kind project,” Celph Titled says. Buckwild agrees: “It stands the test of time.”  -Soren Baker
