JOPLING. Captain Henry Montague Hozier. "Lloyds."

Original lithograph from the 'Vanity Fair' series, published February 10, 1883. 400 x 270 mm.

Mr. James Hozier of Mauldslie Castle and Newlands, Lanarkshire, a Scottish Advocate and the proprietor of much land round Glasgow, was blessed five-and-forty years ago, along with his wife, Catherine Margaret, daughter of Sir William Feilden, 1st Baronet, with a son. This son was Henry Montague Hozier. He was educated at Rugby, got into the Royal Military Academy at Woolwich by open competition at eighteen, and, having declined the Royal Engineers, was appointed to the Royal Artillery at nineteen. Having served in China with this arm, and there tried the new rifled guns, he was transferred in 1860 to the 2nd Life Guards. Being however an able and ambitious man, a career of unadulterated Household Cavalry did not please him; so he passed into and out of the Staff College at the head of the list, and thenceforth was held to be destined for high things. Meantime he hunted much, rode steeplechases occasionally, and seized every opportunity of seeing active service.

In 1864 he acted as Times correspondent in the war between Denmark and Germany; two years later he attended the war between Prussia and Austria in the same capacity; and after this he was attached to the Intelligence Department of the Horse Guards, where he remained for six years. In the Abyssinian Campaign he was Assistant Military Secretary to Lord Napier of Magdala; and when the Franco-German War broke out, he was appointed as Assistant British Military Attaché to watch the struggle. His prospects of promotion, however, being damaged by the abolition of purchase, he left the Army, and in 1874 became the Secretary of Lloyd’s, which he still remains. Under his guidance Lloyd’s has become an organization unequalled in the world for the collection and distribution of marine information, and it is daily progressing, not now with the mere idea of saving property, but also with the higher motive of rescuing life from the perils of the sea. Captain Hozier is an extremely able, highly energetic, and very popular man. Four years ago he married Lady Blanche Ogilvie, the daughter of the Lord Airlie. He gives excellent dinners.

Great shoe!
Size: 5.5 Big Kid, Color: (106) Castlerock/Anthracite/Phoenix Fire
Great fit, very durable, excellent foot support, lots of great colors to choose from. We have had these for over 6 months and thy have not overstretched or come apart in any way. I am really pleased with these shoes for my child who is VERY hard on shoes and usually has sensory issues surrounding shoe comfort/tightness.

Great fit for kids
Size: 10 Toddler, Color: Light Grey
We purchased the RUNSIDE Boys Girls Tennis Shoes for my child and have been really happy with them. They’re super lightweight and breathable, which is great for all-day wear and running around. My child says they’re comfortable, easy to put on, and don’t make their feet hot. The shoes seem durable so far and have held up well with playground time, sports, and everyday use. They also look cute and match with a lot of outfits. The fit was true to size and the non-slip sole gives good traction. Overall, these are a great affordable option for active kids and I would definitely buy them again!

Shoe laces aren't great.
Size: 3 Big Kid, Color: Black White
I bought these RUNSIDE kids tennis shoes for everyday wear and school, and overall they’re lightweight, breathable, and comfortable for active use. My child liked how easy they were to put on, and they worked well for running and general play. The shoes themselves feel flexible and pretty comfortable for the price point. The upper material is breathable, which helps during sports or warmer weather, and they don’t feel heavy on the feet. However, the main issue is the original shoelaces. They constantly came untied no matter how they were tied, which became frustrating pretty quickly during the day. We ended up replacing them with better-quality laces, and that solved the problem. Pros: * Lightweight and comfortable for kids * Breathable material works well for active use * Easy for everyday wear and school * Good fit for the price Cons: * Original shoelaces do not stay tied well * Laces needed to be replaced for practical use Overall, these are solid budget-friendly kids’ sneakers that work well once the laces are swapped out. The shoe itself is comfortable and functional, but the included laces are definitely a weak point.
