ABOUT THE ONDEMAND WEBINAR

Finding and approaching an agent is often overwhelming and intimidating. There are thousands of agents representing hundreds of subgenres-which one is right for you? How do you make contact without closing doors?

This live presentation presents resources and tips for authors on narrowing down their field of agents to query, prioritizing what they want from their representation and how to ask for it, crafting winning query letters, pitching successfully at conferences, and avoiding common mistakes when approaching agents.

Adriann Ranta has been an agent for nearly a decade, representing many debut authors and seeing their books through to successful publication. She's read millions of query letters, been pitched by thousands of authors, and attended countless conferences-this presentation is a culmination of the patterns she's noticed about the memorable techniques and embarrassing mistakes authors often make when querying their work.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

  • Where to find agent listings and their specialties
  • How to match your book with an agent's tastes
  • The techniques for making publishing connections (and why they often aren't necessary)
  • How to avoid unethical or uncommitted agents When conferences are worth the cost (and when to save your money)
  • The elements of a successful query letter
  • How to pitch in person Common mistakes authors make when pitching to agents and how to avoid them

Nice starter toys
Color: Pink, Color: Pink
Decent rubber toys. You get plenty and each one has a slightly different texture / hardness. Our 12 week old yorkie pup especially likes the "bean" and the ring. My issue though is that she is already starting to break the toys and I worry that she might ingest the pieces that come off. Therfore I recommend having an eye on your pup when they are playing. The bean chewie does a good job at cleaning your dogs teeth. The toys are also easy to wash. Overall not bad.

Choking Hazard
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
This item is not suitable for puppies. When chewed on pieces of plastic fall off the toys and can create a choking hazard for small dogs/puppies. I had to throw all of the pieces in this set in the trash.

Best small puppy toys
Color: Purple
This is one of the best puppy toy for heavy chewers. I have a 3lb chihuahua who chews as much as my Labs would. The pieces don’t fall apart in little bits and keep her busy for a little while. One of the best parts of the toy was the braided cloth attached to it. The cloth is soft and doesn’t shred like a rope toy so no swallowing bits of rope and no getting nails stuck in rope. I highly recommend these toys for you little chewers! PS Would love to see if they make any other toys. Their website is very tiny and has no contact info.

Cute but potentially a choking problem
Color: Pink
My 5 month old miniature poodle actually bit off the little knobs on a couple of these toys. Needless to say I took them all away from her. They are cute toys but not really safe
