Water Oak Block WO-336 2.5" x 2.5" x 12"Water Oak Block WO 336 2. 5" x 2. 5" x 12" 2. 6 lbs. This is a very nice, lightly spalted, end grain spindle block of Texas Water Oak. It is all heartwood with a strong, tightly flowing grain pattern. There is a beautiful, prominent pattern of grain crossing, ribbon like rays on one of the two quarter sawn faces. Both end grain faces exhibit some interesting spalting patterns and colors that may show well in the finished piece. There is a fine check

There is a beautiful, prominent pattern of grain-crossing, ribbon-like rays on one of the two quarter-sawn faces. Both end-grain faces exhibit some interesting spalting patterns and colors that may show well in the finished piece. There is a fine check on the bottom end of the block (photo 3). You may wish to stabilize this if turning. I see no other cracks, checks, or flaws in this block. |
