With Degüello, ZZ Top cranked the swagger up to eleven and never looked back. Released in 1979, this album marks a turning point for the Texas trio—introducing slicker production, a horn section, and a sharper sense of groove, without losing a drop of that dirty blues-rock grit.

Right out the gate, “I Thank You” brings soulful attitude, reworking the Sam & Dave classic with ZZ Top’s unmistakable boogie-blues flavor. “Cheap Sunglasses” is an instant highlight, pairing fuzzy riffs with sly humor in a way only Billy Gibbons can. Meanwhile, the instrumental “Manic Mechanic” shows off the band's experimental chops, with distorted vocals and gnarly textures that hint at their future synth flirtations.

Degüello is more than just riffs and cool shades—it’s where the band starts flexing its range. The smooth, slow-burning “A Fool for Your Stockings” oozes late-night charm, while “I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide” is a grooving road anthem full of tongue-in-cheek bravado. The addition of horns throughout adds a bold, brassy punch that sets this record apart from its predecessors.

This LP is ZZ Top at their leanest and meanest—slick, sharp, and full of surprises. Whether you're a longtime fan or a new convert, Degüello is a must-spin for anyone who likes their rock with a side of blues, a dash of funk, and plenty of attitude.

The basics of building a business
Format: Paperback
This workbook is a companion piece to the book of the same name. It takes a start up entrepreneur through all the initial barriers to start up, methods to overcome barriers and fundamentals of starting up a business. I like the way it starts at the beginning of developing a vision and mission statement and continues to walk you through defining your ideal customer, goal setting, developing a unique value proposition and a business model canvas. It emphasises the importance of a SWOT analysis and having a sound financial plan. I like the way the workbook provides space for you to work through your own thought processes and financial plan for getting your business off the ground. It is a sound method to use for a person beginning their business journey to make sure they cover all the vitally important steps to starting their own business.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL
Format: Paperback
I can't even give this one star, but I had to put at least one. SUCH a disappointment!! It says "workbook" and it is nothing of the sort! There are 34 pages of "content" which is almost useless. Just about anyone going into a business would know what's there. Don't waste your money!!
