The RAM-HOL-GA5U is a model-specific cradle for the original (monochrome) Garmin eTrex® Legend, Summit, Venture and Vista handhelds. It holds the unit securely with full port access, and its 2-hole AMPS pattern bolts to any RAM® diamond base for fully adjustable mounting. Got a colour-screen eTrex (Legend C, Vista HCx and similar)? You want the RAM-HOL-GA16U instead.

FAQs

Is this for the colour eTrex models? No. This cradle suits the original monochrome Legend, Summit, Venture and Vista. For the colour-screen models (Legend C/Cx/HCx, Venture Cx/HC, Vista C/Cx/HCx) use the RAM-HOL-GA16U.

Does it include a base? No, the GA5U is the cradle only. Add a diamond base such as the RAM-B-238U plus an arm or mount.

Works well...but the price!
I ordered two sets to connect 3 monitors together for a workstation at my job. These are well designed and the magnets are pretty strong. Installation is easy and it holds the alignment well. The only issue is the price. For what it is, the price is quite high. The value proposition would be much higher for those who need to be able to not have them aligned from time to time, such as rotating one around for others to see in an office. But if don't need to do this and just want alignment, there are much cheaper options. If you want to go the cheapest DIY route and it won't be seen, some popsicle sticks with two sided tape works well. You can crack them in the middle to act as a hinge.
