It was painted in 1830 by French Romantic artist Eugène Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People is a classic and recognizable work that's stood the test of time. The work commemorates and depicts the July Revolution of 1830. Depicting a woman wearing a Phrygian cap leading a varied group of people over both a barricade and the bodies of the fallen.
