From that fabled west coast workshop, we've got the breeze in our hair and the sand between our toes with this Fender Custom Shop '70s Telecaster Custom Heavy Relic in a sweet-but-seasalty Super Faded Aged Surf Green! The Telecaster Custom, a total icon of '70s Fenders, doesn't always get the limelight in the Custom Shop. With this heavily aged model, the humbucker-loaded '70s classic gets its day in the sun with unique, retro-minded electronics, tastefully beat-up aesthetics, and quality tonewoods for an overall stunner of a Tele. Surf's up.

Like so many other Fender classics, the Telecaster Custom gets the red carpet treatment with this '70s-minded model. This all begins with a two-piece ash body, sorted for weight. Ash, something of a spiritual sister to alder, plays with a bright, resonant profile ready to back up the bold, expressive tones of the Tele Custom. This model's ash body comes together with its "sorted for weight" quality, where, during construction, a Fender Custom Shop builder will select a cut ash body among a lot for its lightest weight. Differing from your usual Telecaster Custom bodies, this ash does not come shaped with a belly cut, hearkening to more traditional Tele shapes. This model's sorted for weight quality and ash tonewood align for a guitar sitting well below seven pounds.

In addition to its ash pick serving as an excellent sonic springboard and highly mobile body, this Custom Shop's ash tonewood works as an exceptional canvas around which to wrap a Fender Custom Shop Heavy Relic lacquer finish. Just short of the highest level of finish wear you can get out of the Custom Shop, this Heavy Relic-level paint and wear job exposes quite a bit of the bright ash underneath contrasting the Super Faded Aged Surf Green-shaded lacquer.

Moving on from there, this Fender Custom Shop brings on a 5/4 quartersawn maple neck in a '65 Strat "C" profile. Smooth and slim, this neck slips easily across the palm alongside its unfinished Heavy Relic back. This choice translates more of the maple's grain feel as players move from lower to higher registers and back again from the neck's .820" thickness at the first fret to .974" at the twelfth. Filling out to the fingerboard, this Tele Custom features twenty one frets using the Custom Shop's 6105-size fret wire. Articulate and precise, these Narrow Tall frets line up with Micarta Black facedot inlays and a worn, ghosted look and feel. This Tele Custom's fingerboard compounds on playability with a compound radius measuring from 7.25" to 9.5".

This Custom Shop's voice plays with a dynamite, '70s-style tone. Centrally, this Custom Shop model features a combo of a Fender Custom Shop hand-wound Twisted Tele single-coil pickup in its bridge position and a Wide Range CuNiFe Humbucker pickup in its neck position. The Twisted Tele, a pickup among the Custom Shop's hottest, matches up with the warm, crispy, and punchy sounds of the Wide Range copper-nickel-iron humbucker for a killer sound shaped through '72 Tele Custom control rout wiring.

Backing up its tones, this Custom Shop Tele Custom features a reliable hardware setup. A '67 Tele bridge lands at the base of the scale with brass barrel saddles for a solid transfer of motion. At the opposite end, the dark-tinted headstock is lined with Schaller F-Key tuning machines and a bone nut for solid stringing. Across this model, this Telecaster Custom features Relic hardware finish treatments for that added element of age. This Telecaster Custom travels with an included Strat/Tele Black hardshell case.

A fresh breath of ocean air, this Telecaster Custom is a lovingly worn, '70s-style model for the musical equivalent of a long walk on the beach.

A Riveting Read!
Format: Kindle
Come along for the page-turning tale of young Hannah, a brave young woman who just wants to do good in a time of madness. I read this in one sitting! Highly recommended for anyone interested in historical fiction. This would also make a wonderful accompaniment for school-age curriculum in grade 5 or above.

Great Book!
Format: Paperback
This book was a great read. So well written, and keeps you on your toes the entire time. I overall really enjoyed reading about Hannah's experience, and I could not put the book down because I was so eager to find out what happened to her! The author(s) clearly put a lot of time into researching the Salem Witch Trials and creating a book that has an accurate (and fact-based) representation of the historical event. I wish this book had been around when I was in elementary school or middle school, as I know my younger self would be in awe of Hannah's story and her unwavering bravery/compassion. Overall, a great read that I would highly recommend to others.

**Actual Rating 4.5** Highly enjoyable read!
Format: Kindle
Overall This is a very well written fast paced read. Hannah is an excellent character with a strong moral compass. It has a bit of a slow start but picks up very quickly. It’s historical references are fantastic and the setting was beautifully drawn. It’s appropriate for the age range and even endeavors to show how actions have consequences. However, there were a lot of unresolved threads and even the outcome didn’t sufficiently demonstrate much of the short story strived to demonstrate. That being said this short story read was well worth the time I very much enjoyed this little read. Best part is there are historical references. This is not the first iteration of the Salem Witch Trials, typically the story goes in one of two directions, where it was true (there were witches) or faked (girls on a power trip). This has been repeated through history and despite the excitement at the prospect of witches in 1692 Salem, the latter and the premise of this story is far more plausible. Rating 4.5 (rounded down) A strong educational and historical novella that’s setting and characterization leave a positive impression. Where did I copy? Amazon.

Correct research and good writing
Format: Kindle
I Escaped the Salem Witch Trials is a gripping recreation of what happened in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. It is told from the point of view of one girl who wasn’t swept up in the hysteria that gripped so many of her companions. The characters are believable and skillfully drawn and the reader understands the fear that must have clutched the inhabitants of the small town of Salem. The narrative loses a little steam when it comes to the escape from the Boston gaol, but that doesn’t detract from the historically accurate depiction of these infamous trials. The details have been well researched, and the book’s production values are excellent. I would recommend this to any school children who want to gain some insight into how the witch trials came about, or any parents who want to learn a little about the dark side of our puritan ancestors.
