Please note this awl is suitable for working through leather up to a total of 3mm thick and of soft to medium handle. It is advisable to ensure the blade is well sharpened and waxed prior to use. Leather may also be dampened to make hole piercing easier and to protect the blade. To protect the curve of the blade pull the blade directly out at the same angle, avoiding sideways movements or wiggling.
