You see, Keith Sasaki was the pro I looked up to, not only because of his DK skills but also because his skin color was similar to mine. Back in the ‘80’s, I was this young dark-skinned grom from Imperial Beach that just got into bodyboarding. The magazine showcased the first generation riders and Keith was one of the few dark-skinned guys that was consistently in the mag. Mike Shaw was right up in there too. It was Keith’s style and persona that not only made me want to ride like him but proved that anything was possible for us brown dudes. Again I thank you.
