旧チェコ・スロバキアのPartizánske(パルチザンスケ)という町。1939年、NOVESTA(ノヴェスタ)はその小さな町にある歴史的な工業地区BATA Industrial Parkの中にひっそりと誕生しました。ラバーとキャンバスの製品に特化した靴工場は、第二次世界大戦、戦後の冷戦、社会主義時代や国家分裂の歴史の流れを経て現在まで、ミリタリー、ワーク、ラバーブーツ、ランニングシューズなど、純スロバキア産のフットウェアを創業から一貫して作り続けてきました。
チェコとスロバキアが分裂した後の1992年、創業から半世紀の間にヨーロッパを代表する工場として名を上げた工場は純スロバキア産スニーカーブランド、NOVESTAを立ち上げます。以来、NOVESTAはオリジナルブランドとして成長を続けながら世界各国のブランドと共に多様なコラボレーションプロジェクトを世界に発信しています。
NOVESTAはヨーロッパの繊細さ、そして東欧の素朴な質感が残るハンドメイドスニーカーをこれからもお客様に届け続けていきます。
NOVESTAの歴史は1939年、Bata Groupの創業者一家のJan Antonin Bataが現スロバキア中部にあるパルチザンスケという小さな街にレインブーツとスニーカーを生産するための巨大な工場を建設したことから始まります。
チェコスロバキア最大の靴工場として、1950年以降は軍用のトレーナーシューズの大量生産を行っていました。
NOVESTAは品質にこだわり、高い環境基準と社会基準をクリアする生産体制を築き上げてきました。ほぼ全ての製品が天然ゴム、綿やリネンといった厳選された天然素材から生まれ、バルカナイズド製法によって生まれるスニーカーの工程の9割は職人によるハンドメイドです。NOVESTAは地球環境へ優しい持続可能な物づくりを目指し続けるヨーロッパでも数少ない工場となっています。
半世紀以上を経て、工場から生まれた靴はヨーロッパから世界中へと渡っていきました。工場は現在も毎年700トン以上の天然ゴムを消費し一日に12,000足以上の靴を生み出し続けています。
工場のアーカイブとして残っていた型をベースとしたチャッカブーツ型のモデル。定番のSTARソールを用い、耐久性に優れたバルカナイズド製法で作られています。中敷きを外して洗うこともできます。

Great dressy sneaker to wear with business casual or jeans

I got these for my husband to wear with jeans or business casual dress pants. They look sharp and professional and dress up jeans if you're going out. He says they fit comfortably and he can walk on them all day without his feet hurting. They are beautiful genuine leather so they don't get stinky. I got my husband's normal size and they fit to size.
