Where our Cement comes from.
The French and Catalans were the first to use the technique in the 1850's both in France and in Barcelona. The complex patterns used in the tiles are due to an interest in ancient cultures, most notably Moorish and Moroccan art. As a result, the tiles spread throughout Europe as a high quality flooring material and then onto former European colonies in Latin America, North Africa, and Vietnam.
How Zia Tile manufactures our Pomelo Cements.
We make Cements like our Pomelo pattern by hand, one at a time, using mineral pigments, cement, a mold, and a hydraulic press. Because of this handmade process, every Pomelo tile is unique and one of a kind. The individual patterns are made by applying separate pigments, one by one, in a handmade copper mold. The process is incredibly delicate, requiring skilled artisans with years of experience. No two tiles are ever the same.
Why we love Cement
Our Pomelo tiles are not fired in a kiln because there is no glaze layer on the surface of the tile. As a result, their production has a much lower carbon footprint compared to ceramic tiles.

Nice partition for my basement

This 3-panel room divider showed up well-packaged with all the parts and even a little tool for putting it together. The instructions were easy to follow, and while one person can definitely assemble it, having two makes it quicker and less frustrating.
It does exactly what I needed—gives quick, easy coverage in an open area. I'm using it in my basement to hide the furnace and water heater, and it works great for that. It looks nice overall, but I picked the beige fabric (which is really more of a tan), and the black frame makes it stand out more than I’d like. A white or lighter frame would’ve blended better. Not sure that I would use it anywhere besides the basement
It’s lightweight and pretty sturdy. The wheels make it easy to move, but it does get a bit wobbly, and the panel clips need to be readjusted every time you roll it somewhere new. Still, for the price, it’s a solid buy. I’m happy with it and planning to order another one.
