Louisa May Alcott was born in Pennsylvania in 1832. And, also like Jo, she was highly imaginative and writing was an early passion.
As her family was often in financial difficulty, Louisa worked from a young age to support her family, taking any position available: a governess, domestic servant, seamstress and teacher were among her jobs. She also wrote poetry and short stories for popular magazines, and melodramatic novels under a pseudonym. When the American Civil War began, Louisa, who fervently opposed slavery, lamented that women weren't able to fight, and volunteered as a nurse at the Union Hospital in Georgetown, Washington. Her nursing career was brief as she contracted typhoid, but she wrote Hospital Sketches, a truthful and poignant account based on letters she wrote home to her family in Concord, and it was published to great acclaim.
In 1868 Louisa was asked by her publisher to write 'a girls' story'. This resulted in Little Women, which is largely based on the experiences of the author and her three sisters. It was a phenomenal success. In a time when children's books were morality tales featuring idealised, two-dimensional protagonists, Little Women was revolutionary, peopled as it was by relatable, flawed, fully realised characters. I own 4 pairs of these pants because I love them so much! I receive many compliments when I wear them. They are stylish, comfortable, and a great thin material that keeps you cool while looking professional. I am 5" tall and can wear them with heels without needing them to be hemmed (which is unusual for me when ordering pants). They have an elastic waist band with drawstrings so I can wear them while losing weight, they don't wrinkle easily, and they have pockets! Great pants for a great price! I will continue to purchase more throughout the summer.

The good with the bad

Photos in listing depict a LINEN pant - in the close up's you can clearly see a linen/cotton like material. To my surprise, these pants are a silky, polyester material. There is NO stretch - I am glad I purchased a size larger than what I consider my " roomy " size. These style is also depicted as a beige and black color pattern, they are more of a light mauve color out of the packaging. Took a steamer to them to get the wrinkles out. Suitable for tall girls ( I am 5'9 ) and wearing them with 3 in wedge. They are cute - dressy enough for a business casual office setting or a date night. Probably not the best for hot humid weather as they are not breathable.

Incredibly comfortable and perfect for summer!

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about these pants at first. When I initially opened them, they didn’t feel like they had much stretch, and the fabric felt a bit cheap to the touch.
However, once I actually put them on, my opinion completely changed! They are so incredibly comfortable and have a great, effortless drape. The material is lightweight and breathable, making them absolutely perfect for warm summer days. They are easy to style (looked great paired with a simple tank and a denim jacket!) and feel wonderful to move around in.
I am so glad I gave them a chance—I would definitely purchase these again!
