Cobain's Mustangs were equipped with bridge position humbuckers in place of the Fender single coil. The Artist series features a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB direct mounted to the body.
For such a typically considered unbalanced pickup set, the single coil and Duncan humbucker sound excellent run together - in or out of phase.
Fender Japan guitars always have great playability, and this Mustang is no exception, providing a comfortable feel, especially for a vintage-style short scale.
