This antique Chinese Ningxia carpet was woven in the last quarter 19th century and features a striking all over elaborate interconnected vinery with blossoming peony flowers and floating multicolored butterflies. The main border shares a similar spirit from the field design with the use of soft earthy colors and cloudband design motifs and a beautiful array of lotus flowers with symbolic meanings including happiness. The slight distressing to the wool pile adds to the overall beauty of this piece. Great room size rug for any interior.
