A wonderfully nostalgic piece of guitar history, this Hondo II H732 ML De Luxe Series dates from the late 1970s to early 1980s and was manufactured in Korea during the golden era of Hondo production.

With its distinctive laminated natural finish, contrasting decorative body stripes and twin humbucker layout, the Humbug is one of the more unusual and desirable Hondo models from the period. These guitars have developed a loyal following amongst collectors and players alike, offering bags of vintage character and a look unlike anything being produced today.

What really stands out about this example is its condition. For a guitar that is over 40 years old, it has survived remarkably well. There are some small dings, marks and signs of use throughout as you would expect from a vintage instrument, along with some age-related tarnishing and pitting to the neck plate, but overall it presents exceptionally well and has clearly been looked after over the years.

More importantly, it isn’t just a display piece. This Hondo plays genuinely well, with a comfortable action and a lively, resonant feel that makes it great fun to pick up and play. It has been checked over in our workshop, restrung and set up ready for its next owner.

The twin humbuckers deliver plenty of vintage character with warm cleans and punchy overdriven tones, making it equally at home with classic rock, blues and old-school hard rock sounds.
