The handles on the top are convenient to carry the light around and they can also be used to lock the light by using the latch on the sides preventing the light from turning on accidentally. The handle on the side can be used with the direction light to turn it into a handheld light. This lantern also has magnets and a hook at the bottom which allows it to be placed in different places.
