ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Lt Col Stuart Scheller joined the United States Marine Corps in 2005. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s in Military Science from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. Over the course of his seventeen-year service, he has commanded troops at the platoon, company, and battalion level. He has excelled as a leader both on deployment and in the training of future warriors. In the first year of his service he was called upon to help evacuate American citizens from Beirut during the 2006 Israeli-Lebanese conflict. In Ramadi, Iraq, he served as a company executive officer and fire support team leader. In the Paktika and Ghanzi provinces of Afghanistan, he helped clear IEDs. He has held multiple training commands including, most recently, commander of the Advanced Infantry Training Battalion at the School of Infantry East at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. It was in this capacity that he attracted attention in the summer of 2021 for speaking out against the disordered American withdrawal from Afghanistan and the failures in leadership––civil and military––that led to the chaos.

Purchased this for our trip to Mexico. At two cruise ports we were doing a combination snorkel and pool day. I got this sunscreen because it was reef friendly and came with two bottles. Both bottles were IMPOSSIBLE to spray. You could not sunscreen yourself because you had to hold the bottle just right, push down with extreme force, and have your fingers place very specifically on the lid. My 13 year old and husband couldn’t even use the bottles. I did figure it out so I had to continually sunscreen everyone in the family. No one in my family has sensitive skin, but we all ended up with a fine rash after using this sunscreen. On days prior we used another brand and no one had a problem. We also reapplied often (every 60-90 min) and we still got pretty burnt. Maybe we got a bad batch…

I believe it is equal to the name brands It is 50 SPF Sun Protection Factor so it offers strong UV A and UV B protection which are the 2 ranges of sun rays that do the skin damage and burning. It is an easily absorbed lotion that when rubbed goes into the skin and is not visible. It is thick and goes on with a non shiny, non greasy, solid thick feeling which is what we need for it to stay on as long as possible. It feels good after being rubbed in in that it feels dry and not overly greasy or with no shine and sheen. It is a good product and offers burn protection to me in some clear-sky strong sun uses. Reapply after entering the pool water or swimming laps and after an hour (all sunscreen labels say reapply after 80 minutes which I believe is per recommendations of the federal FDA or some medical studies). I reapply often and I still get tanned but I do not want to burn.
