Here’s an easy way to make a classic block that’s like a breath of spring air. This die makes it simple to create a stunning 8” finished block that will bloom all year long.

AQ Cutting Mat Required: GO! Cutting Mat, 6 in. x 24 in. (15.2 cm x 61 cm)

How to Die Cut 5-Color Full Blown Tulip Block:

For best cutting results, position fabric on the lengthwise grain (straight of grain) as it goes under the roller. Tip: The die is specially designed to cut one complete 5 color 8" finished block in one pass through the cutter.

  • Fabric Color 1: Cut A and AR shapes together. Cut two 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" rectangles. Place right side up over shapes A and AR to cut two of each shape.
  • Fabric Color 2: Cut A and AR shapes together. Cut two 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" rectangles. Place right side up over shapes A and AR to cut two of each shape.
  • Fabric Color 3: Cut two 5 3/4" x 11" rectangles. Fanfold into four layers and place over shapes B to cut four mirrored B rectangle sets (8 total shapes).
  • Fabric Color 4: Cut four 4 3/4" x 3" rectangles. Place right side up over shapes C to cut four mirrored C triangle sets (8 total shapes). Note: Shapes face each other on the die board so do not fanfold fabric.
  • Fabric Color 5: Cut two 2 3/4" x 6" rectangles. Fanfold into four layers and place over shapes D to cut four mirrored D triangle sets (8 total shapes).

AccuQuilt Benefits:

  • Cut so much more fabric in less time.
  • Get accurate cuts every time -- No slipping rulers or mistakes
  • Easiest to use -- Simply place die on cutter, then fabric and cutting mat on top
  • Save fabric with Two Tone Foam -- Get more out of your fabric by placing it only over the shape you want to cut.
  • Safe to use -- No blades come anywhere near your fingers

Die Tips:

  • With some fabrics, after cutting, a thread or two will remain where die blades meet. Snip threads with scissors.
  • Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle.  Align fabric to edge of shape, not edge of die board.
  • Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
  • It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.

        STELLAR
        Format: Hardcover
Highest quality print. I ordered this book during the early part of the 2020 pandemic. When it arrived I was so happy. The images were comforting during a time of great stress in our world. It reminded me that Final Fantasy has been a tremendous part of my life. I'm grateful for the effort put into this book, which was in part a preview of the Pixel Remasters that came later. Brilliant.

        Amazing book, but unnecessary
        Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I would give this book 5 stars, but at the end of the day I don't think I can. I love flipping through it and looking at the color palettes and seeing the ways the artists communicated ideas through their limited palettes and spaces. There are also little 3D paper arts you can do of some of the sprites, like the fountain pictured above. It has helped me in my pixel art journey and it could 100% help you. The only reason I would say not to buy it is because all of the sprites are accessible online. If you want to understand the art on a deeper level and develop an appreciation for the passion that pixel art contains, buy it. If you want to look at them quickly as references and are an experienced pixel artist, it is not as useful, you could learn the rules just by looking at the sprites online, but you would miss the explanations and writings that help explain the art.

        Great for my Quilting!
        Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I bought this book at launch and it has pretty much become my “bible” for Final Fantasy pixel art. I sew and love making nerdy quilts so when I saw this, it was a total insta-buy. It showcases so much original art as well as newly designed sprites (for both older and newer games). I honestly didn’t know about the newer games being designed as sprites so when I saw this, I immediately got to creating. Beyond this being a great pattern book for pixel quilting, I loved seeing a piece of FF history we don’t get to know about. Also loved the interview showcased. A good book for any Final Fantasy lover collection!

A great book for a fan of the early final fantasy series.
        Format: Hardcover
I love this book! I grew up with the NES and this brought back a lot of memories of how as a kid I would get lost in the creativity of what developers of these games made with only some blocks. I love pixel art and this book is great if you enjoy making your own and admiring the work of someone else's and seeing their imagination from some truly great games. This book is small in size but is perfect size to show blown up images of final fantasy pixel characters and creatures, also of places from the games. Also having final fantasy characters from beyond the Nintendo/SNES was a really cool surprise to see if they had been made in that era.
