ABOUT THE MAKER

Gunji Pottery or Gunji Seitosho is a collaboration between husband-and-wife duo Tsunehisa and Keiko Gunji, two of the most renowned ceramic artists in Mashiko, a picturesque craft and pottery town located 100 km north of Tokyo. Together and individually, they create beautifully crafted ceramic works designed for everyday use and simple pleasure, all within their serene studio nestled in nature.

Tsunehisa focuses on throwing and shaping the pottery, while Keiko brings life to the pieces with her exquisite hand-painted designs, slipware, and carved decorations. Their shared artistry results in timeless and functional pieces filled with charm and individuality.

We regularly visit Gunji Pottery's studio to select each piece, ensuring that every item we bring to you represents the best of their craft. It is our joy to introduce the artistry of Tsunehisa and Keiko Gunji to the world through UGUISU.
