Discover the groundbreaking insights in **Deep Roots**, a compelling exploration of the enduring impact of slavery on contemporary political attitudes in the American South. Published by Princeton University Press in 2020, this trade paperback delves into the reasons behind the South's steadfast conservative stance despite over a century of social transformations. The author meticulously analyzes how historical ties to slavery shape modern beliefs, revealing that areas formerly dependent on slavery tend to exhibit higher levels of racial resentment and less support for policies promoting black advancement. As southern whites overwhelmingly lean toward Republican candidates, gun rights, and the death penalty, understanding the historical context becomes crucial. **Deep Roots** presents a persuasive argument that the institutional legacies of the past continue to cast a long shadow on today's political landscape, making it an essential read for anyone interested in the intersections of history, race, and politics. This book not only provides academic insights but also equips readers with a deeper understanding of the sociopolitical dynamics at play in the South. Grab your copy today and engage with an important conversation about race, history, and the fabric of American political ideologies. Perfect for students, researchers, and anyone intrigued by the legacy of slavery and its ongoing influence.Shipping Notes

Buy if you love flat pillows
Love the fact the pillow can be separated into two sections. The thinner section is perfect for stomach sleeping; add the other piece for side sleeping. Add a down pillow for back sleeping. The pillow is fluffy, unlike the rock slab feeling of memory foam.

Only about 1.75 inches thick, and hard as a rock.
Size: 2.7"H (Standard)
This is nowhere near the 2.7 inches advertised. After waiting 4 days for it to expand, it never got higher than 1.75 inches from bottom to the highest point. Also, I'm not sure what kind of Talalay they claim to use; this was hard as a rock.

Great Pillow!
Size: King (Pack of 1)
Excellent product. I have been searching for a pillow that wasn't too soft or too hard and supported my neck. I now wake up without a stiff neck and a headache. Wonderful!
