Defying convention and going "au naturel", we have this Gibson Custom Shop 1957 Les Paul Standard in a Murphy Lab Heavy Aged natural finish. This piece from Nashville's finest in guitarcraft comes together with a suite of luxurious specifications and features to make for a savory sonic and aesthetic experience. Bringing together a host of carefully considered pieces, this Gibson Custom is a delight.

At the heart of this Custom Shop piece is a striking balance of mahogany and maple. This Les Paul Standard's body assembles with a mahogany body paired with a hand-picked plain maple top. Specially picked for this exact model by Custom Shop luthiers, this plain maple cap imparts the bright and crisp tone you've come to expect from the Les Paul alongside its rich and woody mahogany base. The combination of these two woods in hand make this a classic Les Paul Standard experience tangibly.

Decorating this Gibson Custom guitar is a one-of-a-kind finish aging and wear treatment from the Custom Shop's Murphy Lab. A Murphy Lab Heavy Aged finish treatment appears all across this guitar, imparting a well-loved and lived-in feel and look alongside tasteful dings and scrapes, simulating a guitar that's been thoroughly enjoyed and put through its paces. This body wear is matched by the guitar's hardware, featuring a similar simulated age. Across the full scope of this Custom Shop creation, we have a striking vision of a guitar with decades of theoretical experience.

Moving on, this Les Paul Standard extends with a mahogany neck formed in a 1950s Chunky D-Shape profile. This neck, filling out to a substantial full inch at the twelfth fret, connects with a full grip. Inspiring a classically-minded playing experience, this prominent neck shape is matched with a 9mm one-piece rosewood fingerboard. This guitar's rosewood board is lined with Jescar FW50078 Historic Narrow Tall fret wire for a vintage feel with great articulation. Enabling players to traverse the fingerboard with speed and precision, there's plenty of life to find with these frets to inspire fluid movement and long playing sessions. Aged celluloid trapezoid fret inlays appear across the rosewood for a classic visual motif.

This Custom Shop piece would not be what it is without some bold and interesting electronics. For its voice, the Custom Shop loaded in two unpotted Custombucker humbucking pickups with Historic Reissue mounting rings. These pickups summon heaps of compelling amplified character for players seeking authentic Gibson grit and warmth. Truly, this Gibson Custom embodies quite a bit of what makes Gibson electronics so thrilling.

Like all Gibson Custom Shops, this 1957 Les Paul Standard is fitted with a lineup of fine hardware specifications. Plated with nickel, this Les Paul features a notched '59 Historic Reissue No-Wire ABR-1 bridge with an aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece. Grounding strings stably alongside a nylon Reissue nut and Kluson Deluxe tuning machines, this Custom Shop offers stable and fluid stringing in addition to comfortable playing. Smaller considerations making this Les Paul Standard its own include Blacktop Hat volume and tone knobs, like those you would find on a Blacktop Les Paul. This piece travels with a Gibson hardshell case.

Showing off some true natural style, this Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Standard is a classic example of the Custom Shop's dedication to quality and artistry.

Greasy and ineffective
Size: 6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This sunscreen is so greasy that it just slides off your skin. I've used a ton several times and still gotten sunburn within an hour.

Great lotion!
Size: 6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
One of the very few daily body and face lotion that has no bad ingredients. Free of fragrance, dyes, parabens. It adds moisture without the greasy feel.

Held Up Great in the Mexico Sun — No Burns
Size: 6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I brought the 365 by Whole Foods Market Sport Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 with me on a recent trip to Mexico, and it performed really well. We spent a lot of time outside in strong sun—beach, pool, walking around—and this sunscreen held up great. I applied it as directed and didn’t get burned at all, which is always the real test for a sunscreen. It goes on fairly easily for a mineral sunscreen, and I like that it’s water resistant for up to 80 minutes, which makes it great for swimming or sweating. It stayed effective even after being in and out of the water. The lotion also didn’t feel overly greasy, which is something I appreciate when using sunscreen throughout the day. Overall, this worked exactly how I hoped it would. If you’re looking for a reliable mineral sunscreen for travel, beach days, or outdoor activities, this one definitely gets the job done. I’d use it again without hesitation.
