Battle of Cape St. Vincent 14th February 1797; Admiral John Jervis's attack on Spanish fleet - a historical hand-coloured illustration (map 18), engraved by A.K. Johnston for Atlas to Alison's History of Europe, published by W. Blackwood & Sons, Edinburgh & London, in 1850.

Alexander Keith Johnston (1804 - 1871) was a Scottish geographer and cartographer. His initial interest to geography was inspired by inaccuracy of maps Johnston used in his early years hiking in West Highlands. After graduating from University of Edinburgh he joined his brother in printing business "W. & A. K. Johnston" which used the clan motto "Ready Aye Ready" as their logo. The rest of Johnston's life was devoted to geography and map making. Among other works, Johnston created the first English language physical globe of the world, and an atlas of military geography to accompany Alison's History of Europe, first published in 1848. The company W & A K Johnston were appointed engravers to King William IV and Johnston was later elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

The Battle of Cape St. Vincent (14 February 1797) was a major naval engagement of Anglo-Spanish War, where British fleet of 15 ships under command of Admiral Sir John Jervis defeated a larger Spanish fleet of 27 ships, led by Admiral Don Jose de Cordoba. Because of the heavy fog, Jervis was unable to evaluate the Spanish force until the very start of the battle on 14th February morning but decided to attack. On the quarter-deck of his flag-ship Victory, Admiral Jervis said to his officers: "A victory to England is very essential at this moment". British fleet formed a line of attack in order to pass between the two groups of Spanish ships and to be able to fire in both directions. "We gave them their Valentine in style", wrote later a British gunner on Goliath. Under fierce British attack the Spanish fleet maneuvered to retreat to Cadiz. Nelson on his ship Captain has realised the danger of the Spanish slipping away. Disobeying orders, Nelson commanded his ship out of the line and to engage the group of six Spanish ships; other British ships followed later. His ship heavily damaged, Nelson with a famous cry "Westminster Abbey or Glorious Victory!" has personally led a boarding party onto two Spanish ships in quick succession and captured both. In all, four Spanish ships were captured and later destroyed. British Navy was better trained and had a decisive victory over a much larger Spanish force. The victory was widely celebrated in Britain; Admiral Jervis was made Baron Jervis of Meaford and Earl St Vincent with £3000 annual pension, while Nelson was knighted as a member of the Order of the Bath.

Westie LOVES this toy
Color: U.S.A, Size: Medium
My pup (Westie) adores this toy. This is actually our second one. The ball itself is resistant but the straps will be obliterated. Would definitely recommend! Totally worth the price!

Not durable
Color: Black/White, Size: Large
If you have a dog who likes to pop things then this toy isn't it. Within 5 min she had this ball popped. It was made to sound like it was durable for this type of thing but it definitely is not so just be aware. Now if you have a dog who doesn't pop things easy then this would be a good toy

WHAT I LEARNED
Color: U.S.A, Size: Medium
i AM NOT SURE THAT 4 STARS IS A FAIR SCORE, MY DOG IS AN AGGRESSIVE CHEWER, NEEDLESS TO SAY WITHIN 2 DAYS ALL THE TABS WERE OFF, BUT THERE WERE NUBS LEFT AND SHE CAN USE THAT. HERE IS A WHAT NOT TO DO, BRING IT TO THE DOG PARK, THEY ALL HAVE A BLAST BUT IF YOUR A BULLY/PIT MIX AND DECIDE TO SINK THEIR TEETH INTO IT, IT DOES DEFLAT. LESSONS LEARNED STILL A FUN TOY.
