This “friends and family” box is made of a v speshal kind of heavy paper that combines two components: the liner and the medium. The liner is the outer flat material and the inner structural pieces that adheres to the medium. Also called cardboard. The corrugated layer gives mycelium space to groe into, a nod to the title “friends and family”. After a few weeks or sometimes months, you’ll start to see groewth in this cardboard box.
While everyday cardboard may not be the most high-tech material, that's what Stingwater turned to in order to address multiple contrasting themes. Each 12x8x6 inch cardboard box is stamped and branded with a gold Stingwater sticker that promotes self-reflection and contemplation around cultural and social conditions. Presented as a sculptural piece, the cardboard box is intentionally left empty to highlight it's potential for growth. Empty your mind.
