Eastern Red Cedar Bowl Blank ERC364 4.5" x 9.5" x 9.8" 4.6 lbs. This is a beautiful half-log bowl blank of Eastern Red Cedar. It has a warmth to the wood, with color of light reddish-brown. The grain on this piece is long and straight. It has a complete and well-attached shaggy bark on the backside. This half-log bowl blank should be suitable for a bowl 9.5" in diameter and up to 4.5" deep. With the bark on the backside, you have the option of turning a conventional bowl or a "barky" natural-edge bowl. However, if you want a full bark edge on the "natural" rim, you will need to secure the bark with CA glue before and possibly during turning. This is a classic half-log blank, split through the center of the log. It does have some pith in it and has a few cracks developing, despite being well-sealed. This piece is fully dry, so cracks are pretty stable. For any that are present, I recommend reinforcing them with CA glue prior to turning. This is fully air-dried bowl blank, measuring under 10% moisture content. |

It's a functional organizational tray
I bought this valet tray for my nephew to be able to organize his go-to items, such as his cell phone, wallet, watch, bracelet, etc. I expected the tray to look more upgraded. The compartments are shallow, but they do the job. It is made of a cardboard-type material ( corkboard would have been nicer), and the black platform is a metal construction, which gives it a more stable and solid structure. Overall, for the price and its functionality, I guess it was worth the purchase.
