Features & Benefits

  • Designed specifically for New Zealand gates, the Milk Bar™ Lamb/ Kid 20 sits along the front of the pen.
  • Fitted with an adjustable aluminium hook at each end and one in the middle.
  • The Milk Bar™ Lamb/ Kid 20 has two brace handles which make it easy to move and give the unit extra strength.
  • Fitted with Milk Bar™ Lamb/ Kid Teats which sit nice low milk in the milk channel to minimise waste. In bigger groups, gut health is even more important and Milk Bar™ Lamb/ Kid Teats control the flow to reduce diarrhoea and bloat.

How to use

  • Using a screw driver, adjust the aluminium hooks to fit your gate.
  • Fill with milk and leave the lambs and kids to it!
  • To give your lambs and kids the best drinking position, hang the feeder on a rail around 65 cm high. This puts the teat at 25cm which is the optimum height for them and helps the oesophageal groove to close and milk to bypass the rumen.

How do I change my teats?

  • Milk Bar™ Teats have a pull through design to sit snugly against the feeder wall for optimum hygiene. However, while this is the most hygienic system, it can also be difficult to change teats!
  • Use a Teat Tool: This is by far the easiest method. The purpose designed Teat Tool plucks the teat from the feeder with minimal effort in seconds.
  • Pull the teats out by hand: When removing by hand, make sure to either pull the teat directly down or up. If you try to pull the teat straight out, it will be a tough job!
  • Cut the teats out: Make sure the blade is sharp and you use the knife away from you. Make sure to check the teat alignment is correct and the slit is vertical!

This book really helps organize a process that is inherently chaotic
Format: Kindle
I'm working on a series of novels about a world of talking animals that grows up after humans die out from complications of climate change. Every species has its own culture. I got through the first book and well into the second before I realized that I needed some way to codify all the cultural details. I had lots of ideas, but no way to organize them, and as I moved towards the third book of the series, which would require creating seven or eight whole cultures, I was feeling overwhelmed. Creating Life and the free templates the author provides as a download are proving to be very useful tool. I look forward to reading the other two books in this series, too.

An excellent book
Format: Kindle
I am a new fantasy fiction writer, and the detail of this book really helped me out very much. As I was searching Amazon for a book on this topic, this was one of the few that stood out. The author also offers continuous lessons on world building through his free newsletter, which I also find helpful. I highly recommend this book. Thank you Randy. L.M. Montes

Both books in this series are worthwhile reference sources
Format: Kindle
Great books--I got both this one and Creating Places. I simply stumbled upon both books online when looking for something about plotting, and I bought them both, and am glad I did. I'm a fairly experienced writer in literary genres, but fantasy/sci-fi are different. The first book I got, Creating Places, was immediately useful as I was creating a land ringed with tall mountains, and I wondered about rainfall--this book answered my question about how mountains effect rainfall! It's not like you couldn't look some of this stuff up in other ways, but having it all in one place was very useful to me. This one still had tips I was interested in, but I agree with the reviewer who noted it did feel like it was more about world building for world building's sake (at least in this book). Plenty of things didn't apply to what I'm writing, but if you use these as a handy reference--rather than a "how to" book, I still think there is a lot of use here. (Plus, when I bought it, the book was under $3, so I figured why not?)

A lot to think on!
Format: Kindle
I've been world building for several years now and thought I'd pick up this book just to see someone else's thoughts. This book really brought up some fun points I've skipped and gave me a lot of tools, can't wait to read the next one!

Very useful resource
Format: Paperback
I reference this book often when creating new characters, monsters and even animals and plants. The book has lots of interesting and useful tips and insights that I've found very useful. Its also organized in a manner that is easy to just go to the sections you need.
