Richard uses a variety of media including drawing, installation, and textiles to explore our perception of space and time.

WHEN BOOKING A CLASS ONLINE, OTHER THAN BY CALLING THE SHOP, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PUT YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL IN THE 'NOTES' PART OF THE ORDER. MANY THANKS.

In this workshop participants will explore a combination of traditional hand embroidery techniques, how you do it, and why you do it. We will explore the slowness and rhythms of hand stitching; the versatility and strengths of embroidery for drawing and mark-making; and the pleasure in having time to make.
Create textures and patterns, work a stitch in different threads changing its scale and spacing, work freely, and combine stitches to mark make and draw. Practical help will be given by demonstrating the many ways in which this can be achieved using the most simple of hand embroidery techniques, no knowledge of particular and precise embroidery techniques are needed.

We will explore the following stitches: straight / running / couching / whipped + laced

You will need:
Fabric - cotton, linen or wool, or anything you might you want to stitch on (nothing too tightly woven)
A range of threads
Embroidery/ sewing needles
Scissors
An embroidery hoop

100% deposit is required at registration.

A Book for our Times
Format: Kindle
This book has excellent advice for all Christians, as well as those not sure of what the Bible says. The passages, illustrations, scriptures are presented logically, Biblically, and hold much wisdom. I enjoyed the encouragement, practical steps that all can use.

Diverse Worship--Make A Joyful Noise Unto The Lord All Ye Lands
Format: Hardcover
I love this beautifully illustrated story. Children and adults, too, learn God's vision for His church—true worship. Author Dorena Williamson presents an image of a church no longer divided by race, culture, or style of worship. Instead, the church is a gathering of God's people celebrating who He is and all He has done. Also included are author notes suggesting ways to share the importance of embracing and celebrating God's diverse world with children.

We Are Better Together
Format: Hardcover
One Sunday morning when all the Sunday school classes landed in a heap for a multi-generational assembly followed by muffins, I read aloud from The Celebration Place, Dorena Williamson’s anthem to the Body of Christ gathered. How refreshing to share the truth that worship (and worshipers!) will look and participate differently in other places! Here in rural Maine where a choir is as rare a sight as a brown face, Erin Bennett Banks’s vivid illustrations enriched the text, and I was pleased to hear adult chuckles accompanying the page about rappers “nodding to the beat” while “old folks stomp their feet.” Together, author and illustrator announce the church as “no longer a divided space. Now it’s a celebration place!” With so many fractures in our world upon which we can distance and divide, the pursuit of unity in the Body of Christ is difficult but crucial. The work toward delightful diversity done today in God’s House is affirmation of the truth that we are better together, and it is preparation for the day when we will join with all nations God has made to glorify his name, for he is great and worthy of our celebration. Many thanks to IVP Kids for providing a copy of this book to facilitate my review, which is, of course, offered freely and with honesty.
