The Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition '64 Stratocaster is a breathtaking revival of a timeless classic, brought to life by the master craftsmen in California. Its journeyman relic treatment bestows upon it the character of an instrument that's been lovingly played and tastefully upgraded over the decades.
At its heart, a two-piece Alder body, painted in an alluring Aged Aztec Gold nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The relic detailing is subtle, yet compelling, featuring fine checking lines and small dings that reveal a hint of wood underneath, while the hardware carries a Closet Classic aged look, less worn but no less charming.
The neck, carved from quarter-sawn AA flame maple, unveils a spectacular three-dimensional grain that extends all the way up to the headstock. Hand wear subtly marks the sides in the first position, providing a soft, played-in feel. The AAA rosewood fingerboard, sorted for darkness, pairs seamlessly with the neck, offering 21 Narrow/Tall 6105 frets. The neck profile, a '63 Strat Style "C", measures 0.810" at the first fret and beefs up to a satisfying 0.970" at the twelfth, lending the instrument a pleasing heft and hand feel.
The electronics, a key highlight of this Strat, include a trio of hand-wound Custom Shop Strat Texas Specials, interconnected via Fender's Strat Vintage Mod #2 wiring. Texas Specials are renowned for their overwound design that delivers hotter output, a rich midrange bite, crystalline highs, and a taut bass response.
In a blend of vintage aesthetics and modern playability, this guitar comes fitted with a 9.50" fingerboard radius, a Custom Shop vintage Strat bridge, and vintage tuning machines with Fender logo, all treated to a Closet Classic aged finish. There are tone controls for the bridge as well as a combo neck and middle tone control, and pair that with the 5-way selector for even more versatile sonic sculpting.
Embodying the fiery spirit of Texas blues and the timeless style of vintage Fenders, this Stratocaster is a sonic masterpiece that comes complete in an FCS Strat/Tele blonde case.
