Never-ending email chains, maze-like grocery stores, boring meetings and rush-hour traffic...sometimes the best escape from the mundane horrors of our waking lives is to step into a far more terrifying story! In this bundle, both novelists and short story writers will gain expert advice on building a horror setting, creating and maintaining tension, developing characters, and more. Valued at $655.90, this package includes eight OnDemand webinars taught by bestselling horror authors, and two digital editions of Writer's Digest Magazine featuring cover interviews with authors Chuck Wendig and Stephen Graham Jones, all at a discount of 90% off. Save money and craft the nightmare of your dreams today!

Products included in the bundle:

Writer's Digest September/October 2023 Digital Edition - So much about writing and publishing is mysterious. In a way, each new story one starts drafting is a mystery—who are these characters, what do they want, and what will happen to them? Likewise, once the story is revised and polished, how can the writer get the story into the hands of readers? The September/October 2023 issue of Writer’s Digest is all about “Facing the Mysterious,” whether that’s figuring out the plot twist, finding an agent, or talking to the press once the book is published. ($7.99 value)

Writer's Digest March/April 2025 Digital Edition - Sometimes, the most exciting writing is that which confounds expectations. Writing that combines tropes, ideas, or different genres in unexpected ways to create something entirely new. Or novels that mix interactive elements with traditional storytelling to guide, or even misguide, readers (think: Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr). In this issue, readers will find articles about writers, stories, and techniques that effectively mash up seemingly disparate genres or elements of storytelling to push the boundaries of writing. ($7.99 value)

The Physiology of Fear - Learn how fear affects the human mind and body – and how to make this work for you in your fiction. Topics covered include: The psychological aspects of fear; The physical aspects of fear; How fear responses affect the human brain and body; and How the effects of fear impact your writing. ($79.99 value)

How to Craft Scares - Are you looking to startle or surprise? Boil unsettling sensations up into visceral feelings of dread? A corrosive brew of both? In this presentation, I’ll talk about the basics of writing scares – pacing, character, location, as well as the challenges (and opportunities) of a hungry readership that has seen it all. I’ll also delve into the hard questions only you can answer* that’ll point you in the direction of the scares only you can write. (*Whether you want to or not is another question.) ($79.99 value)

Finding Hope in Horror - For some people, horror is gory, bleak, and unsettling. And that can certainly be the case, but what about Hopepunk? What about putting some hope in your horror, what might that look like? Is your horror story worth the trip? Does the horror HAVE to win every time? This isn't about writing a happy ending or pulling your punches, this is about fully embracing horror—the bleak, the scary, the unsettling, and the gory—while at the same time finding hope, optimism, and other emotions outside of terror. The last flavor, the last emotion, the last image—it CAN be inspiring, uplifting, and hopeful.  ($79.99 value)

What I Wish I'd Known When Starting Out in Horror - One of the most effective (but draining) ways for writers to learn is through making mistakes...lots of mistakes. But what if you could cut down on these "learning moments" by getting some inside information from someone who's already been through that gauntlet. In the horror community’s tradition of paying forward and with the aim of decreasing participants’ learning curves, a veteran horror writer shares what he wishes he’d known when starting his career. ($79.99 value)

Terror vs. Horror - In order to tell a truly haunting and effective horror story you must do many things, but the most crucial is the balance between terror and horror. What does that mean? Horror is a balance between clues, hints, tension, and foreshadowing (terror) paired with the truth, the reveal, the horror come home to roost (horror). We'll talk about this concept in greater detail, along with ways to execute both aspects, to create a thoughtful, layered, intense horror story. ($79.99)

The Power of Setting in Your Novel - Of the three basic elements of a novel—plot, character, and setting—setting is often considered the least important aspect of storytelling—or, on the flip side, setting is elevated to the role of a character in its own right. The truth is plot, character, and setting are (or should be) inextricably intertwined. In “The Power of Setting,” Connie Berry will demonstrate how authors can use setting to immerse readers in the story, drive the plot, amplify character, plant clues and red herrings, create conflict and ramp up tension, reflect themes, reveal backstory, and foreshadow later events. She will also discuss five ways authors get setting wrong—and how to fix them. ($79.99 value)

How to Weld Dread: Hanging and Carrying a Dark Mood From Start to Finish - One way to capture the attention of readers and keep them engaged in a story is to build a sense of dread. In this presentation, Donyae Coles will go over what "dread" is in the sense of story and how to pull it into a story beyond just fear of the "bad guy." Although a horror author, Coles will speak to how dread can be used in other genres of fiction as well to create compelling stories readers love. ($79.99 value)

Writing Neurodivergent Characters in Horror - Neurodiverse or neurodiverse-coded characters, from Hannibal Lecter and Frankenstein’s Monster to Stephen King’s Holly Gibney, have long drawn readers and writers to horror, yet multifaceted and nuanced representation remains elusive. In this OnDemand webinar the instructor discusses the stereotypes and tropes that have come before—everything from hyper-intelligent, emotion-free killing machines to the hyper-fixated, socially awkward investigators who pursue them—as well as the challenges in depicting invisible disorders that express themselves in a myriad of ways. Most importantly, we’ll talk about how to create authentic, neurodiverse characters that aren’t merely a grab bag of their expressed traits and exist on the page with full, lived-in personalities. ($79.99 value)

IT'S LIKE SLEEPING ON A CLOUD!!
Size: King, Style: 3 White
OMG I AM SLEEPING ON A CLOUD!!! THIS! Life changing!!! We went on a Royal cruise and asked for a mattress topper. When we got home I just had to find one for our bed because I sometimes find it to be too hard. Along comes THIS topper! The very first night it was on the bed I slept the entire night without tossing / turning which I NEVER do! Along with every night since! It fits perfectly on our King bed and no issues with the sheets. It does have a chemical smell when you first open the bag - but I put it in the dryer on air only and the smell dissipated in about 20 minutes. No smell at all by the time we went to bed. it appears to be washable. It's very soft so there isn't really any back support. Just adds comfort to the bed. It is bamboo and really as soft as a cloud! Even my husband got into bed the first night and said AHHHHHHH SOFFT! Super bright white appearance. Not sure if it is water resistant. We added it on top of the mattress protector without any issues. All of the FOAM mattress toppers are terrible! They end up getting really heavy, you can't wash them, they get lumpy, and you end up sweating like crazy on them! THIS - nice and cool! And my hubby runs hot!! I call him the heat miser! No issues! We're both very very pleased!! If you're even thinking about purchasing - ADD IT TO YOUR CART NOW!

Not like the pictures but well worth the money
Size: Queen, Style: 1 Green
4 stars because it is not nearly as padded as the descriptions and images make it seem. The filling flattens easily and doesn’t provide any support. That being said it does make my bed more comfortable and soft and has improved my sleep quality. I have a 12 in soft/medium firm memory foam mattress that was wonderful for the last +2 years till my back surgery ~6 months ago. Since then my joints ached when trying to sleep and when waking, my back would be all out of place and achey, and I was untested. Since buying this topper these issues have improved by 80% or more. It is a great addition to my bed and I don’t regret buying it.

OMGAAAAAWD!!! HEAVEN!

All I can say is OMGAWD!!! Thank You~!~!! We got a new mattress after the previous "The Cloud" Serta pillow top (I'll never have another one) lasted for less than 8 years and I totally despised not being able to flip it models failed.. The new model is also a hybrid mattress, but is flippable and was just a bit too firm. I was feeling progressively more and more uncomfortable as the nights wore on, and with my serious back problems.. this just wouldn't do.. So I began searching "Our Beloved Amazon - heh" for an alternative, and after quite some time and research finally landed on this wonderful topper. It's like sleeping on top of well stuffed Ida Down on top of piles of silk. So very comfortable and my back pain is virtually completely gone now -such a relief! Be sure you follow the instructions on care and initial setup. You Do have to let it fluff out because of the vacuum packing (it wasn't really heavy btw). Mine decompacted fine, but I still want to run it through the dryer when we next venture to the laundromat. Shake it a little here and there when you take it out and at least let it sit for a few hours. It was just as easy to put on the bed as a regular mattress protector, and I also put my regular protector on top of it for added security and waterproofing. The materials feel like they are of good quality.. Viscose is also called Rayon and can be made from a number of different materials, so take good care of it and follow the washing instructions carefully. Delicate only, and cool only, and use only a horizontal washer that does not have a central agitator or you will tear it up. Only dry on low temperatures (preferably in a very larger laundromat dryer so it has plenty of room to loosely toss about. Drying it in the sun is alright as well, but it won't fluff like you want it to. I recommend using a waterproof and bug proof protector on top of this just to be sure you take care of it properly. Now I want to buy one for both my Mother and my Aunt HAHAHHA! TG it is in my price range.. barely. (Addendum: I have run it through the big dryer at the laundromat.. The dryer was cold so I gave it a quick warm on medium for anout 2 minutes and then tumbled on low for quite some time. The topper was fully ready in about 25 minutes, but I decided to elt it go on low while I did the rest of my laundry. It did perfectly and is just like the manufacturer photos.. I was so tired when I arrived home that I just flaked out on top of everything.. It was so comfortable that I was out liek a light in very short order and slept beautifully. I can attest that if you use this below your sheets instead of covering it with an additional mattress protector, that it does have better cooling effect. I will of course keep my waterproof/bugproof protector on top just for safety. The cat is nutz about the new topper as well.) Namaste.

Pleasantly surprised!
Size: Queen, Style: 2 Dark Gray
I had been searching for a quality mattress topper in hopes of extending the life of our mattress. I compared a few options and kept coming back to this one. I have to admit I was skeptical because the price point was lower than many options. This topper is SO comfortable and soft! I left it laying out for a couple hours and then followed the instructions to put it in the dryer. Worked like a charm. I’ve been going through issues with hip pain and this has made a difference in my sleep and I’m waking up in less pain. So happy I tried this out. The padding is so comfortable and fit on the mattress using the same sheet we had.

So perfectly soft
Size: King, Style: 2 Dark Gray
My husband was complaining about the mattress, and wants to spend a lot of money on a new one like the ones at the Waldorf. I asked him to give me a chance to try to fix it first. Watched youtube videos about hotel style beds, and landed on the need for a mattress topper. This one is so... very... comfortable. I thought the grid pattern would bother me, but nope. You don't realize how much heat you soak up from your mattress until you get a nice airy layer in between. I almost completely stopped sweating at night, and he's stopped complaining about hurting as much. This is another of those items that I'm scared of washing too much, but it's held up with care and caution. If it starts to get a bit too squished, I just fluff it in the dryer and the padding poofs right back up. The sides are deep and my mattress sinks right into the pocket with no pulling. I have bad back pain and I am certain this has been helping support my back a bit better, so I wake up more refreshed. I'm sorta popping out of bed like I used to years ago. He still plans on a new mattress, but this has saved us money, for now, and when we get the new one, this will layer on top like a dream. I'm glad I took the chance on this, it has really improved our rest, and that's so important.
