It is all heartwood with a straight grain that's been cut slightly inclined to the long axis of the board, giving it diagonal grain on the faces. The colors are an overall medium brown with bands of darker-brown grain. This piece has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. I see no cracks, checks, or other significant flaws. This piece has been planed on all sides (S4S) but may still have some rough patches or minor surface imperfections. We carry multiples of this block size, so the photos may not represent the block you will receive. They are all similar in character and will be beautiful to work with. |
