Compact Disc

For Aesop Rock, the phrase “I heard it’s a mess there too” started out as a lyric, but it didn’t take long for that line to get its hooks into him. It felt familiar, like a line he’d said a thousand times in recent years while checking in with friends across different cities, swapping stories about where each other are, and what’s going on there. The more he sat with the phrase, the more it started to feel like the center of something bigger. I Heard It’s A Mess There Too lives at the intersection of two personal urges for Aesop: the need to venture out and document your surroundings, and the desire to stay connected—especially when things feel uncertain.  Musically, Aesop Rock explores some new territory on the album. “I’d been building tracks the same way for many years,” he says, “but I made a conscious shift in my process here. I tried out some new tools and attempted to make my beats cleaner, more minimal. The drums are more stripped back, the bass lines are allowed to just sit, without layering ten things on top. I didn’t want the beat and the vocals competing for attention—I just wanted enough to get a wave rolling and not much more, just setting a mood I could move to.” These twelve songs mark different stops along that path of tinkering and looking for something new.

Came damaged and badly bent probably due to packaging but still usable. The book is great and fantastic nostalgic moments with our 1 year old.

Classic Kids Book
Format: Board book
The Rainbow Fish is one of those children’s books that has been around forever for a reason. The story is sweet and the illustrations are beautiful. It is a great book to read with kids and one that seems to stick around in family libraries for years.

Great illustrations but not sure about the story
Format: Board book
My toddler is obsessed with all things fish, so when she picked out The Rainbow Fish from Amazon search. The illustrations are gorgeous, and my daughter is mesmerized by the sparkly, foil-like scales on the fish. She keeps pointing at them every time we read it, and it’s become a bedtime favorite just for the shiny colors! One thing I found a little odd is the story: the Rainbow Fish gives away all her beautiful scales to make friends. It’s a sweet message about sharing, but as a parent I admit it made me scratch my head a bit (I wasn’t sure if my toddler really gets why the fish parts with all her sparkles). Still, it’s a friendly tale and we enjoy reading it together.

The Good Democracy is at Risk
Format: Kindle
This is as close to a page-turner as a prosecutor's brief can get. No words are wasted as the author describes how Donald Trump and his minions have used their raw power to lay waste to the "good" that is the beating heart of American democracy, putting democracy itself at risk. Only the people can fix it. Abuelo

Sweet Book for Caterpillar-Loving Kids and Dads
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
This is such a cute little book, especially for families who already love The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The story is sweet, simple, and perfect for reading together, making it a great gift for Father’s Day, birthdays, or just a special book for dads and their children to share. My daughter loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar, so she was immediately interested in this book. The illustrations are colorful and engaging, and the message about the bond between a child and their dad is really heartwarming. Overall, a wonderful addition to any child’s bookshelf and a meaningful book to read together.
