What can you do to help achieve the dream of becoming a full-time writer?

If you've already been published, how can you maximize your books' discoverability?

If you haven't yet been published, but hope to be in the future, how can you begin marketing yourself today in order to drive sales tomorrow?

In this eye-opening seminar, Guy LeCharles Gonzalez, a published poet, journalist, and Director of Programming & Business Development at Digital Book World, the country's most progressive publishing conference and community, gives you the inside scoop on what you need to be thinking about if you're intent on succeeding as an author in the digital age.

Guy will reveal the status is of "traditional" marketing provided by publishers (what do they really do for you, anyway?), why it is now necessary for authors to market themselves and their work, and the most up-to-date tools available for actually doing it.

Promotion is no longer limited to hitting the streets, arranging book signings and radio interviews on your own time and dime. Now you can drive your own PR – online – using a variety of free and inexpensive tools.

No matter what your comfort level with these new digital opportunities, you'll learn how to master the fundamentals, navigate the social media landscape, use it to promote both you and your work, and engage with a die-hard community of potential fans and followers interested in you and your books.
What you'll learn:
  • What you can do to drive your own sales, before, during and after the publication of your book
  • What kind of marketing support you can you expect from a traditional publishing house
  • Why your ability to help drive sales can make you more attractive to traditional publishers
  • What promotional opportunities are available to you and how much do they cost

Speaker:
Guy LeCharles Gonzalez is a multi-faceted poet, writer, and audience development/marketing professional with more than 15 years of experience in print and digital publishing, as well as public speaking. Guy is currently the Director of Programming & Business Development for Digital Book World, the country's most forward thinking conference for the publishing industry. He is the co-author of Burning Down the House (Soft Skull Press, 2000), and his blog, loudpoet.com, is Command Central for his insights on publishing, marketing and writing in the digital age. Don't pass this one by
Color: Gunmetal Grey, Size: Rechargeable
This is the best wine opener we ever had...push button once...it goes in, pulls cork out, then reverses and drops cork in your hand...all with one push of the button. Long battery life between charges.

Game Changer for Wine Lovers
Color: 8-in-1 Silver, Size: Rechargeable
Circle Joy Electric Wine Bottle Opener and I’m honestly really impressed. Setup was super simple, and it works exactly as advertised—just place it on the bottle, press a button, and the cork comes out smoothly in seconds. No struggling, no broken corks, and no mess. It makes opening wine feel effortless and a lot more enjoyable. I also love the sleek design—it looks modern and feels sturdy, not cheap. If you have the set with accessories, the extras like the foil cutter and pourer are a nice bonus and actually useful. Overall, this is a great little gadget, especially if you open wine often or just want something convenient and easy to use. Definitely a solid buy or even a nice gift idea.
