An elegant slim waisted vase in white with a black interior and a decorative relief pattern in a black volcanic glaze from Ilkra Edel Keramik.  1960s

ILKRA KERAMIK (aka ILKRA EDEL KERAMIK) was founded by Jacob Leopold Knödgen in 1892 in Ransbach-Baumbach in the Rhineland as Erste Ransbacher Feinsteinzeug-Fabrik J.L. Knödgen.  Knödgen's father owned a vitrified clay factory in nearby Höhr, but his son chose to strike out on his own.  The initial production program included typical Westerwald products:  beer steins, wine jugs, and dishes.  After WWII, the range of decorative ceramics was greatly expanded, largely on the initiative of Knödgen's son Richard, who took over the company in 1936.  Around this time the company's name was shortened to JLKRA, an initialism of the company founder's name and its location —Jacob Leo Knögden, RAnsbach—or the more easily pronounced ILKRA.  (Both spellings are documented in business literature; the latter is generally preferred today.)  In the years leading up to 1955 and especially afterward, ILKRA ceramics were characterized by elaborate and colorful décors.  Designers of the period included Ernst Werner, Richard Knögden's son-in-law; Josef Koch; and Edmund Peter.  ILKRA was one of several companies that produced special pottery lines for Guido Riffarth, one of the most important German wholesalers of ceramics in the mid century.  Riffarth supplied vases and planters to almost all of the flower shops in the old federal territory; its products were offered under the labels Ri-Keramik and Riffrath-Keramik.

Upon Richard Knödgen's death in 1969, the company was left in the hands of his son Leo.  Sales of decorative ceramics were declining by the end of the '60s, and ILKRA switched to the exclusive production of planters in 1970.  The concern was sold to Römertopf Keramik GmbH & Co in 1995, who used its factory to manufacture ceramic kitchenware.  Römertopf remains in business to this day.

Love the lotion, hate the browning cream
Love the lotion have used multiple bottles. It really does help prolong a suntan. Very moisturizing very nice scent. Like a you know Hawaiian tropical coconut pineapple scent little plumeria in there. But the bronzing cream stinks to high heaven. It was sticky and it was gross so I never used it and I won’t buy it again. Definitely by the lotion, but not the bronzer.

Excellent mineral sunscreen for sensitive skin.
Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Set name: Tube - 3 oz.
I’ve been using the Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen, and it’s become a staple in my routine. As someone with sensitive skin, I really appreciate that it’s fragrance-free and uses zinc oxide, providing great protection without causing any irritation or breakouts. It goes on smoothly, isn't overly greasy, and the water resistance holds up well for outdoor activities. The smart cap technology is a nice touch, too. Highly recommended if you’re looking for effective, non-irritating sun protection.

No chemicals that will be harmful!
Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 2), Set name: Tube - 5 oz. 2-Pack
Ordered this mineral sunscreen looking for something simple and effective, and it’s been a solid option so far. The zinc oxide formula is the main reason I went with it. It doesn’t rely on the same chemical ingredients found in a lot of other sunscreens, which is a big plus if you’re trying to avoid that. It feels like a cleaner option overall. Coverage is good. It spreads evenly and holds up well, even with some water exposure. I’ve used it outdoors for extended periods, and it does its job without needing constant reapplication. It does leave a slight white cast at first, which is pretty typical with mineral sunscreens, but it fades in as you rub it in. Not completely invisible, but manageable. After a few uses, what stood out most is that it doesn’t have a strong smell and doesn’t irritate the skin. It just works without a lot of extras. Compared to standard chemical sunscreens, this feels more straightforward and less harsh, especially for regular use. For the price, it’s a great value. You’re getting strong sun protection without the added ingredients some people try to avoid. If you’re looking for a mineral-based sunscreen that’s effective and a bit cleaner in formulation, this is a solid choice.
